I want to research, learn the ins/outs/set-up of IPTV. I'm not super tech savy, but "get by" and am willing to study, read and try to determine who/how/what IPTV svc would be best or "good". I'm not interested in Free, and want a reliable, secure subscription that simply works without a big, technical hassle to set up, maintain, with simple/convenient method of paying to to keep my act active.

There is no cable or internet available where I live on La.'s Northshore. ATT is my cell phone carrier. I have a separate Netgear Hotspot that provides me reliable wifi but with much lower speeds (anywhere from 25-50) than I'm accustomed to, but has still been sufficient to stream other subscriptrions, you tube premium, amazon prime, etc.

Will paid IPTV, with paid "scrubbers/filtering" (I forget what they're called) @ the above internet speed work for me?

And if so, can someone provide me another source or forum to learn/figure who, how, what to do? I continue to occasionally refer/read this tech forum @ TigerDrop but hav'nt seemed to glean the info I need yet to feel comfortable to take action!? I have seen here that it seems you need a "referral" or invite to get hooked up properly.

Can someone help & assist me; answer or guide me - as I'm still somewhat confused, unsure.

I read the book and believe what he says, recounts. He mentioned he had his own private/reserved/designated "parking place" ON Bourbon St (parallel parked) with a "covered type canopy"! The police "protected" it for him only.

Normally, you'd say - that's BS!?! Your own reserved parking place ON BOURBON ST that was Covered!?!

Well, I lived in the French Quarter on St Phillip St, long before the book was released, but during the same time/era Frenchy mentioned having his own police protected parking spot it in his book. I distinctly remember seeing a permanent "car port type canopy" that sat above the same parking spot on Bourbon St while I lived in the quarter.

And I remember thinking @ the time......well that's odd!?! I did'nt really dwell on it much at the time, but I do remember seeing that "spot" numerous times, as that "canopy covered spot" definitely stood out! It was NOT a "paid for, off street, private spot".....just a regular parallel "public" parking spot like any/all others in the quarter, of which there were not many, and were fiercely competed/contested for by residents living in the quarter!

Living in the quarter, you are very aware/alert regarding all things related to parking! And you become an Expert @ parallel parking!! Very tight, cramped spots on one-way, narrow streets with impatient cars/drivers waiting, rushing, honking & intimidating you while you're trying to back (squeeze) into/parallel parking spots that are scarce & very much in demand! ie: What these New Orleans locals, FQ residents are really doing is TRYING to un-nerve/pressure you (or many times tourists) into "giving up" & fleeing so THEY can then grab the spot! As I said, you get REAL GOOD & REAL FAST @ parallel parking in the Quarter!!

So when I did read Frenchy's book "Mr New Orleans" much latter.....it all came back to me, and I easily & suddenly remembered "that same/covered parking spot" on Bourbon St!

There are quite a few other things that he mentioned that I already knew as a fact from growing up, living in La.; others I verified, and some I figured out by putting 2+2. Carlos M was VERY powerful and the Mafia was/were a simple FACT + "way of life & biz" in La. Many if not most of what he said, mentioned in the book occurred & were common!

I remember Katrina, the storm, the 17th street canal levee break, the city filling up & then becoming a cesspool of sewerage, hazardous chemicals/gas/oil/ancient pesticides/poisons that were sitting or stored in 100's of 1,000's of "basement" garages throughout N.O. for up to a century or more...... all mixed in a biochemical/biohazard soup which engulfed most houses and surpassed roofs. No food, no water, no power, no communication, no transportation, in total darkness or sweltering heat with bodies floating. A city under the BEST OF CIRCUMSTANCES/TIMES that resembles, feels often like a 3rd world country and is equally dangerous with much of the population living/acting/behaving no different. Rescue Helicopters & Personnel being shot/sniped. Pharmacies invaded + bullrushed BEFORE essentials of food/water and finally everything disappeared @ Schwegman's on Annunciation.

Yes....A city I LOVE & worked/played/lived fully (Irish Channel, French Quarter, Tchopatoulis St, Napolean Ave., Uptown, Esplanade, Kenner).

The Nurses, Staff, Doctors & Pou specifically are Heroes. I would only hope that I myself, or my loved ones, under ANY circumstances, but especially under those described above would have & be under their dedicated, passionate, tireless, SELFLESS loving medical care, direction.

I read the lengthy, thoroughly investigated, comprehensive link/article (30-40 page?) that was given above. I too recommend this outstanding report and commend the investigative journalist who compiled, wrote it! I was somewhat familiar with the story, events, circumstances & case; but this document greatly expounded my knowledge with precise details of who/how/what was involved, while also refreshing my memory and allowing me an eerie play by play sense/feel of practically being there with the doctors/nurses/patients @ Memorial Hospital before, during, after that epic, cataclysmic event.

When analyzing this tragedy, case - one fact we should know and keep in mind - which was NOT included, mentioned - is that KATRINA was an "ACT OF GOD"! (read your insurance policies). It was SUDDEN, but NOT ACCIDENTAL!

The were a dozen or so (human) "experts" that N.O. Coroner Minyard consulted with, including the celebrated Forensic Pathologists Michael Baden, Wrecht, etc., who claimed "Homicide"! Regarding these esteemed Doctors, medical Specialists, Forensic Scientists (men/women) whom used & peered through high powered, digital Microscopes to then apply their knowledge, human experience regarding their highly specialized "fields" of "Science"; it's also wise to remember and note that "science" has been & is always being changed, updated, corrected! How many criminally accused men/women who were arrested, accused, charged, jailed & sentenced to death by "human" courts, judges, attorneys to then latter be proven and found, through science, to have been innocent!?!

Remember too that none of these forensic experts were "from" New Orleans, nor were they (nor you or me) "there" @ Memorial to experience or witness the circumstances. Nor probably have any of those experts, nor will they ever, witness, experience or live/die/survive a CAT Level/Type Hurricane.

Of all the characters/players - doctors/patients involved before, during & after Katrina descended upon Memorial Hospital.......One thing that very clearly, specifically & repeatedly jumped out in the extensive report/document article - repeatedly - is that of all/everyone involved in this case surrounding this 4 DAY/NIGHT LONG HORROR OF PAIN, FEAR, SUFFERING, EXHAUSTION - WHERE LIFE/DEATH WAS UNCERTAIN for practically all/every man, woman, beast, cop, first responder, etc trapped in New Orleans........

ONLY Dr POE & THOSE NURSES, DOCTORS ACCUSED WERE ACTUALLY THERE WITH THE PATIENTS ....DOGGEDLY, LOVINGLY ADMINISTERING & GIVING MEDICAL CARE, SUPPORT.....CLEANING DIAPERS, HAND PUMPING AIR INTO THEIR LUNGS..... RISKING THEIR OWN LIVES, FAMILIES/PETS HEALTH BY SELFLESSLY TRYING TO SAVE, HELP, CARRY/LOAD/RESCUE EVERYONE & EVERYTHING WITH EXTREMELY LIMITED SUPPLIES, NO ELECTRICITY, NO COMMUNICATION, GOVERNANCE DURING UNPRECEDENTED, HORRIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES

AND THAT WHILE DOING/GIVING/SUPPLYING THE BEST MEDICAL CARE, COMFORT THEY COULD WHILE TRAPPED IN THAT HOSPITAL HELL - OF ALL THE MEDICAL EXPERTS, CEO'S, SCIENTISTS, D.A.'S, ETC MENTIONED IN THE LENGTHY ARTICLE.........IT WAS ONLY POE + HER COLLEAGUES, FELLOW NURSES @ MEMORIAL....THEY WERE THE ONLY ONE'S WHO WERE "P R A Y I N G" - PRAYING TO A GOD, FOR MANKIND NOR EXPERTS WERE THERE AND/OR WERE UTTERLY POWERLESS TO DO ANYTHING!

THEY WERE THE ONLY ONE'S "WISE, LOVING, CARING" ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE & DO/BE WITH & FOR THEIR PATIENTS & THEMSELVES TO - P R A Y - TO THE ONLY SOURCE, RELIEF - THROUGHOUT!!

You can talk all the X&O's you want, are name all sorts of other problems/issues.......But I saw/felt it IMMEDIATELY. LSU Players were confused, embarrassed on field......and were utterly let down by Kelly.

IT WAS AN INFINITELY HUGE PSYCHOLOGICAL MOMENTUM KILLER!! LSU WAS IN CONTROL OF THE GAME.....AND IN ENEMY TERRITORY .....KELLY MADE A COWARDLY MISTAKE BY "GIVING UP"! HE FLIPPED THE MOMENTUM, WASTED AN OPPORTUNITY & SENT A DISASTROUS, SIGNAL OF FEAR/DOUBT TO HIS OWN PLAYERS/TEAM & A&M. I IMMEDIATELY SAID (POSTED) HOW MONUMENTAL THAT DECISION WAS AT THE TIME (COULD NOT BELIEVE IT) & HOW I FEARED THE VERY DIRE EFFECTS/CONSEQUENCES IT MIGHT HAVE IN/ON THAT GAME, SUBSEQUENT GAMES, ETC. IT WAS A SIGN/SIGNAL.....AND SINCE THAT PRECISE MOMENT.....IT HAS BEEN CATASTROPHIC!!!

I supported, liked Kelly UNTIL THE END OF 1ST HALF @ A&M - When He Did Not Call Time Out & Gave Up! I Still can not believe watching the clock go TIC TIC TIC TIC TIC TIC on Live, Prime Time Television. It was one of the most embarrassing moments in my 55 years as a Tiger Fan!
