When I first started going to the "Beaches" in Cancun it was almost entirely undeveloped and barely had electricity. Round trip from New Orleans was $99. Rent a Jeep for $11 a day. By the year 2000 I had been over 15x and had entirely explored, dove, camped, trekked the entire Yucatan Gulf Coast.
There was absolutely nothing between Cancun & Playa del Carmel. P del C had perhaps more Monkeys than people with a population of about 65 souls & 1 small Hotel. Tulum had 0 - n o t h i n g! While exploring Tulum & Coba I "had" to sleep on the beach just south of the Ruin. Before sunset a local Mayan would show up and I would give him a few pesos to string my hammock up between Palm Trees that he had screwed hooks into. He would build a fire between limestone rocks and grill the Lobster I had caught earlier that day. It was H E A V E N - Back Then!
I KNOW Mexico and have travelled, stayed (practically lived) in every State....from Coast to Coast & into Guatemala. I started importing all types of products - art, stone, antiques, furniture, etc. & still do so occasionally. BUT I WILL NOT, HAVE NOT GONE BACK FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS!
** Not even my suppliers, who are Mexicans, will travel via car between towns/states! And NEVER @ night! **
It is NOT SAFE - for ANYONE - ANYWHERE, but especially not for Gringos! The Mexican Mindset (Aztec, Mayan) is very crafty & creative. They HAVE to be. Americans, especially today, don't need to and they can be oh so easily caught off guard.....totally surprised, utterly unaware of what they are "walking into".
It absolutely amazes me how so many Americans allow themselves to be utterly censored and develop "tunnel vision" by their limited, select "woke" Mainstream & Social Media sources/choices! Whether by "Covid" or other liberal talking points they literally risk their very lives. No one can claim ignorance today, for It is too easy, simple to research, get, obtain a wide/broad perspective from various independent sources via the interwebs.

Understand and/or consider the LACK OF STANDARDS, QUALITY CONTROL, ROADS, SIGNAGE, MAINTENANCE & OVERALL LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE/CONDITIONING IN THESE 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES!!!
** Simple "Driving" and/or Access to CARS/VEHICLES (much less Modern, High Speed, Big/Heavy Sedans, SUV's that are common in the US). Drivers Licenses, Drivers Ed, Vehicle Tags/Inspections, etc. etc. is VERY RARE if not TOTALLY NON-EXISTENT for almost ALL "citizens/individuals" of these economically distraught, corrupt. lawless countries these illegal immigrants grew up in and are NOW HERE in the US!
* I am NOT denigrating THEM, but the level of Standards, Education, Experience found in their home countries. Whether Food Handling, Building Construction, Driving......they simply DO NOT & ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED, MODERN STANDARDS, APPLIANCES/APPARATUSES/EQUIPMENT, HIGH SPEED ROADWAYS/CARS, ETC ETC. In many cases, especially throughout the rural areas, there are no laws! No drivers licenses needed, but not problem, for there are no cars/trucks!
** Now think about 50 to 90k lbs18 Wheelers LOADED WITH FREIGHT travelling in Front Of, Behind & Next to You on the Interstate!!! Couple that with Illegal Drivers, Immigrants who can Speak/Read little to no English (signs/standards/laws) & Do Not - Will Not Assimilate!
The Immigration argument is another matter/topic. BUT - knowingly allowing them access to Modern Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Heavy Equipment/Machinery!!??!!?? And THIS IS WHY yet another 4 Americans (Amish) are Dead!! It's not possible to calculate the # of US Citizens that are dead, through really "no fault of their own", due to 3rd/4th world immigrants being suddenly mixed into the Highest Standard of Living in the World.

I hope those saying, using the word "Boomer" feel "edified" (?) in some way or manner. For I am a "Boomer" and I can think of no other adjective, moniker that is more Flat, Neutral!
I see the word used in posts occasionally on TD, and far less elsewhere. When I do - It sparks, conjures NO feelings, emotions in me - nor any other "Boomer" I know.
When I read or see it used - It literally has no effect one way or the other. Not one solitary thought; no dendrite/synapse is fired! NOTHING!
