49 years ago today: OU walked into The Horseshoe for a Top-5 showdown with Ohio State — and produced one of the most iconic moments in program history.
Trailing 28-26 with 6 seconds left, Uwe von Schamann nailed a 41-yard field goal to give the Sooners a 29-28 win in Columbus.
OU had trailed 28-20 late in the fourth quarter before rallying to give von Schamann a chance to win it.
Nearly five decades later, it’s still simply known as “The Kick.”
One of the great moments in OU football history.

It was the longest fumble return in Oklahoma history. Owen Heinecke forced a fumble on a sack of Joey Aguilar, R Mason Thomas scooped the ball one-handed, stiff-armed a Tennessee player for 20 yards, and raced 71 yards for a touchdown despite injuring his quad on the run. The score flipped the momentum, tied the game at 7-7, and ignited Oklahoma’s road upset of No. 14 Tennessee.

In the SEC "The Kick" refers to Van Tiffin's FG as time expired to win the 1985 Iron Bowl. OU will need to rename the play that you referenced to something else.

Yep. I don't know when they stopped but it was into the 80's at least...I remember Kevin Butler kicking off a tee

Yes. Just this season Texas defeated the AP #1 team at home, which means as a member of the SEC.
