Do they not do this on game weekends? I have been to Oxford for Alabama-OM games many times, and I can't recall the bars closing before midnight on those Friday nights.

What a random bar to pick to put in there

Yeah, they've rewritten the laws as of late.

I think it's stupid for them to have special exceptions to the rules for game weekends. It basically says "we honor the sabbath by not drinking on Sunday... except for when there are a lot of people in town and we stand to make some coin off of it."

I've graduated and moved on, so I don't know what the rules are exactly anymore, but I know that during game weekends and other big event weekends (Double Decker, for example) they allow booze on Sundays and later hours for bars and restaurants.

ETA: Like I said earlier, I think every college town needs to take the NOLA approach and keep their bars open so long as they have customers.

I've lived in Columbia and now live in Oxford...I have visited a lot of college towns and Fayetteville is probably my favorite. It's like Athens but better

But damn, man. Just hang out on the OT and it's impossible to not notice at least one thread per week talking about a rape/murder/molestation/etc that went down in BR.

and have you not noticed that 99% of the stuff they post about happens in north baton rouge? crime is extremely segregated in BR.

2 nights doesn't equal actual moving there.

it's all about the odds. Is there an imaginary border that will keep that Northern BR crime from creeping down to the nice parts? Of course not. So if I'm looking for a place to live for a long time, I'm not going some place that has major crime problems just up the road.

If you are cool with it, more power to you. But most people think about that stuff.

What's so great about it? No flame at all. I have never been. What all do students do (besides football weekends)?

Drink, smoke dope, have sex, go to bars/clubs, go spelunking, go float the rivers (while drinking, smoking dope, and having sex), hunt, fish, etc, etc.

If you like outdoorsy activities, Fayetteville is pretty freakin' awesome.

Meh, I did all of that and more in college. The only kicker was we didn't have a football team. You're not selling me on it just yet.

Say What!? I'm obviously biased, but what makes Fayetteville better? I've never been but have been considering it for our next home/away (whenever the frick that might actually happen)

I also enjoyed the fact that it was just the collegfor the most part and i didn't have to deal with tother bullshite. Close enough to atlanta to be thein time for anything exciting happening, and secluded enough to where it was just college events.

I also really like this about Auburn.

I listed those first few things specifically because every college can say them.

The coolest thing about Fayetteville is how you're so close to some of the prettiest lakes/rivers/bluffs in the South. I love that shite.

It's a pretty decent sized town and the area itself is growing really fast. But Fayetteville has kept its small town feel really well. The college area is quite a hike to any big retail areas. It's all mainly mom and pop stuff around downtown and the university.

It's also situated in the foothills of the Ozarks, so you get nice scenery with the hills and colors.

It's impossible for me to cover it all. But it's an incredibly safe, clean, fun, laid back place. That's one thing I loved about it. There's an open mindedness that you won't find in a lot of places. The hippie influence is refreshing to me. Still plenty of conservatives around, but a nice mix of liberals too and it can get interesting.
