This is really interesting to me. I want to know who posted the bonds and if it was the same person for all four.

Serious Question: Is it an NCAA violation for a school or booster to post bond?

If you're going to be a damn criminal at least do it right. Rob a bank or knock over an armored car I can hear it now....these fools get asked what are you in for?

"I'm the badass that knocked out a student so Icould get his card and buy some GD Cheetos!"

Ankle grabbing can't be far behind.

Interested to know if Calloway was involved in the beating or if he knew about it. Using the card was bad (and deserves expulsion from the team) but knowing where it came from/how it was attained, is on another level altogether.
According to reports he used it knowing it was stolen. He apparently wasn't involved in the acts of stealing them.

So let me get it straight.

Williams, Pettaway, and Hayes go out, beat up a couple of students and take their stuff.

Later, Calloway, back at the dorm, says "Dude, I'm hongry. Let me use that card to get some Cheetos."

SECR cheers.

Did I get it correct?

Yeah, cept the last part. SECr is amused and chuckles is more accurate.

If a booster did pay for their bond, it doesn't matter. We'll kick them off the team, they would have be ineligible for a day or so when no games were being played.

Not sure why this matters?

I would think it would classify as an extra benefit, but I don't know for sure.

Because Bama as a program can be punished for NCAA violations, even if the player never played.

Tough to answer. If i'm not mistaken anybody can post bond for you. They are just held accountable if you screw up. So i would say no.

Does any student get bond provided when they get arrested? if so, then its not a violation.

I know what you're saying. Punishing those guilty is the main objective. Just saying, if as a whole, more were actually held accountable across the board, there may not be as much crime as there is today, as a side effect.

You think it would really lead to serious violations? Doubtful.

It wouldn't be good. But nothing serious would come of it.

Not to mention, I don't think a booster paid their bond.

Good point. So it only matters if any of these 4 stay on the team, which is highly unlikely.

I have no idea. NCAA might want to make a statement/set precedent that programs and its boosters should not be in the business of bailing alleged criminals out of jail.

I don't assume it, but I wouldn't be surprised either given the broad NCAA definition of booster.
