The insanity and the ego that you idiots have is just fascinating!
Is that why the SEC courted us and not you when the SWC broke up?
It won’t be long before you figs vault from the conference since it’s what you do after you fester everybody and break up another conference!

SEC was courting Texas. A&M was begging to tag along. Anne Richards and Bob Bullock got wind of things and the Big 12 was born.

I didn't know this until recently, but the SEC Commissioner at the time confirmed this story.

Classic example of aggy folklore. Zero basis in reality.

You know that is BS xwing/.../menu2. You have said this multiple times under all your different alters even though it is well documented that UTrans asked the SEC for an invitation.

Is that really the best dig you can come up with? That happened over 25 years ago. Ann Richards and Bob Bullock have been dead for over 20 years.
I am pretty sure most Aggies have gotten over it by now. We probably were over it back in 2010 and 2011 when the SEC sent A&M an unsolicited invitation to join the SEC and didn't send UTrans squat. It was fun giving the Big 12 and UTrans the double bird
Y'all sure did an awful lot of crying back then. Your AD Dodds demanded that none of the Big 12 schools schedule us in football ever again. Dodds arrogance back then hurt the Big 12 in a lot of ways. He is pretty much responsible for the demise of the Big 12.
Good times!

It wasn’t a dig, it was a statement of fact. A dig would be pointing out that A&M was in the middle of their only good period in history (fueled by rampant cheating and scandal) and Texas was in the dumpster, and the SEC still wanted Texas.

This thread is so good. But it’s missing the 1000 foot view.
Deloss Dodds badly overplayed his hand with all his ego puffing and bold proclamations during conference realignment. The sip message boards were on fire with “30D chess” moves.
Bowtie told him to kick rocks and A&M joined the SEC instead.
Texas got hurt feelings, said they would never play us again, and got everyone to pile on A&M, claiming that it would be the worst decision.
So, in hindsight, the entire conference re-alignment period blow up in the sips faces. After that, Texas floundered in the B12 and had horrible home schedules, and they realized their error.
There is some debate as to whether SEC came calling or Texas came begging. And we know how the sips spin things…

Remind me again in what world would atm be Texas “daddy?”
Would it be where Texas leads atm in every statistical category of wins, championships, etc in every sport not names meat judging?

Y'all are so serious about "conferences". This ain't 1960.
These are nothing more than media marketing packages, and wouldn't surprise me in the least if these packages are restructure every decade or so.
Either the schools or the networks (or both) will figure out a new leveraging angle and here we go again.
Sorry, I wish it was 1960 but it ain't.

Want to compare draft picks if we are talking development by sark?
Here’s a hint: I wouldn’t it will make your comment look even stupider

The funny thing about ATM going to the sec h to use years is had you stayed in the big 12 you likely would have played for a natty with JF. You screwed your best chance to win a natty in decades by leaving the big 12 and Aggie fans deep down know it.

Deloss was largely successful as an athletic director at Texas, and he played the villain role quite well, which we as Texas fans generally loved.
But I agree that he was outplayed in realignment by both wanting to join the PAC in the first place, and then by assuming you guys would just roll over and come with us.
We had to pay for it with a decade of 5-7 but I’m happy with how it all shook out.

Credit to you for a rational post. Y'all made it work eventually. As for the villian/arrogance piece…
Apparently at one point Bowtie learned about the undisclosed Texas-Pac discussions, and questioned him about it. And Deloss told Bowtie not to worry, “we’ll take care of you” or something to that effect.
And that’s when Bowtie knew Dodds was out of his depth, and that A&M would forge our own path.

Just for tRant fyi, I worked a semester as a gopher and researcher for DeLoss Dodd's staff. He lit cigars in his office, even though the campus had long since gone no smoking.
He would strike me as a defense attorney if not an athletic director.

Sorry for making you butt hurt over your lack of understanding of the English language. At the demise of the SWC, A&M was not "begging" anyone. It would be the same thing as when UTrans and Chokelahoma came "begging" the SEC for an invitation.
Sorry all of the UTrans fans are butt hurt about A&M having the season they wish they were having.

Yeah, you’re still lost which is not at all surprising. Did Texas break up conferences or was it the SEC? First taking Arkansas from the SWC (would eventually bleed out), then A&M from the Big XII (would eventually bleed out), and then finally the coup de grâce, Texas and OU. Arkansas, A&M, and OU — what’s common among those three? Hmmm.
