We have crapped the bed multiple times. Thought we were on that path again after DNF’ing in the 4x100 and Jelani Watkins sucking it up. Some how they found a way to win.

The previous coach, Bucknam, had some runner up finishes, but couldn't duplicate Coach Mac's success. It's like following Wooden or Bryant.
And Florida had a strong run. Georgia is coming up now. Tennessee is usually there. The competition is unbelievable.

Nice to see the LSU men overachieve instead of their infamous underachieving at nationals

Congrats to Arkansas for the 1200th time

Technically we won in 2004 and 2005 as well but they were vacated due to the recruitment of Tyson Gay. We’ve routinely shite the bed outdoors since then under Bucknam. Case seems to be on a tear right now though so hopefully he can get us back to elite level in outdoors.

Well you are going to have to explain what you mean by odd, but maybe someone who ran track can answer that. A track meet is a long event and a logistical nightmare. If you listen to the twin pole vaulters interview, they spoke of how they have to manage their energy because their event took 3 hours.

Heptathlon and pentathlon are earlier in the day so they don't interfere with the other events. Running events, especially distance events, are run in the evening because it's cooler. The 10,000 is always run late. Breaks are built in to set up and remove hurdles. There's also recovery time, because some runners may run the 1500 and then come back to run the 5000 on the same day.

Man I ran the 3200 back in the day and we always ran at the very end of the meet. Hated it. All my friends would be gone and I’d be out there still running at 9pm.

2025 Outdoor, 2026 Indoor, 2026 Outdoor. UGA Women now hold the collegiate record in all three sprints (100, 200, 400). Incredible things happening in our lifetime at UGA. BTW, the men are really good too, placed 2nd.

You’re lucky your own family stuck around to watch you jog 2 miles.

Mr. Running Hog gave a good account of how track meets work...

But the Pole Vault itself is a cumbersome event. It can last a long time depending on how many competitors are involved (there are over 20 in an NCAA championship) and the fact that in pole vault usually the bar end being raised several feet from the original height. So there are are a lot of heights to be cleared (or passed on) by the vaulters. It takes a while for them to raise the bar... and get it measured. Heck it takes a little bit for them to get the bar in place after a miss because the bar is so high.

Thank you for the information GD. I have a friend who is a retired high school football coach and he used to tell me what a pain track meets were to put on.

I was kind of wondering about the actual times though.

why are they this

4:58 PM 800 Meters Semifinal ESPN
5:14 PM 400 Hurdles Semifinal ESPN
5:29 PM 200 Meters Semifinal ESPN

instead of this

5:00 PM 800 Meters Semifinal ESPN
5:15 PM 400 Hurdles Semifinal ESPN
5:30 PM 200 Meters Semifinal ESPN
