LSU will find a way to make this interesting in the end.

Jump with a masterful outing. Only found trouble in the 2nd inning but got out with just 1 run allowed. Has retired 18 of his last 19 batters. I would assume his day is over at 105 pitches

It didn't change. The bats and balls did. It's still where homeruns go to die. Until game 2 of the title series, the most runs anyone scored in a game the entire tournament was 6

the bats didnt change. its the exact same standard, bats have not gotten any hotter

if you look at the data though the bodyweight of the avg player has gone up tremendously as has strength. that is the factor on the hitting side

as far as balls, you may be correct. no real way to know without testing from different years

but bats have not changed since the bbcor standard came into effect.

I thought the ball itself had changed though.

bats are 10000% hotter than the original BBCORs

they objectively use a different baseball than they used to. They switched several years ago to a MILB ball with lower seams. I also fully believe that, along with every other level of baseball, that the balls are juiced. There are guys on youtube at least who have tested and confirmed this theory comparing exit velos with previous years and newer baseballs

Laces on the balls have definitely changed. I have baseballs from 2015-2016 and from this season. This season there’s little if any grip offered by the laces (whereas before you had some help due to them being raised a little higher)

I dont think the 2 teams that played for the whole thing last year would be considered "Cinderella" in any way, shape or form.

By your standards, sliding into the back end of the NCAA field is definitely Cinderella material

The ball being different is well documented. It absolutely plays hotter

no. still BBCOR standard. sure seeing some composite bats now with new materials but bats did not change. also seeing some 2 piece hybrid but overall the alloy is still the preferred bat throughout and all must meet the BBCOR standard

here is a link that goes over it. Used to be BESF standard but those were still too hot.

no they are not. they are tested religiously. some companies struggled in the beginning to produce decent bats in bbcor but the 0.5 standard has not changed one bit

you are 100% right for mlb. I duuno on NCAA, may be right too

but bat standard has not changed. like i mentioned there is the possibility many of the early bbcor did not come close to the standard and just sucked but i know there were others that were too hot and pulled....most notably the Cat5^2 and the 33" blue meta.

your answer lies in the extreme advances in training for baseball players and the understanding of what metrics matter like bodyweight and rotational training advances with things like the proteus.

I didn't say the standards have changed. I said the bats have because they have. The original BBCORs had zero pop.

I know I'm right. They absolutely switched to a different baseball comparative to a MILB baseball. This happened in 2015

that's a factor, but the above are too. Home runs didn't almost double nation-wide over a period of 5 years solely because of training.
