Great comeback. Wow.
As annoying as Vitale is, his harping on Bama being in this game without making the 3's was spot on. Great defense and some timely second half shots made for an epic finish.

Got Alabama -4.5 this morning. That was the most glorious backdoor cover of the season

Barnes made a great call by putting in Gaines to guard Herb that last possession. Just fricking terrible luck the ref call the foul there even though he had already passed the ball to Pons.
Gaines is a bad shooter - would’ve been subbed out after the rebound was secured.

Two takeaways:
-I may be incorrect in my thoughts that Bama is a really good team but not Final 4 caliber. When you can shoot as bad as we did today and still beat a quality team, you have the potential.
-Herb Jones is getting all the glory for scoring 20 points, but it took him 18 FG attempts and 11 FT attempts to do it. Those are not great numbers for a guy who does most of his shooting in the paint. He especially does not need to be taking 3 3pt attempts. For a team obsessed with analytics, we let our worst shooter have 5 more attempts than any other player. We won't get away with that again.

Also no way in hell did Barnes call a Bailey 3 point shot at the end. Bailey panicked after fumbling the ball and tried to be a hero.

VOLS are just too inefficient in the halfcourt to make any noise. Disgraceful second half by Barnes.

Herb is a 44% three point shooter. He's not our best or most consistent shooter from deep, but I certainly don't have a problem with him taking the threes he takes. He hasn't forced a single one all season and usually only takes them when he has a lot of separation from his defender.

Probably. But Bama played great defense in the half court in the 2nd half. Plus refs went on a charging spree.

I really don’t think so. They made tough shots in the first half to get some cushion but the offense is really really bad.
I think the James foul trouble hurt bad.
We can be an elite defensive team with James, Pons, Johnson and Springer but there is a huge drop off to the bench.
Offense is abysmal.

No thank goodness. I'm not really a big Dykes fan either to be honest. ESPN really doesn't have a lot of good analysts for college basketball.
