Miami, FSU, Notre Dame, and Penn State were all independent in 1990. That explains a lot of your list.
Very true. But that also helped bring more variety to their schedules which in turn, brought the sport better, more uniqe games during that time period
In the 10 seasons prior to joining the ACC, here are the now P5 teams that FSU played and how many times they played them during those years (1982-1991):
10- Florida
10- Miami
9- South Carolina
7- Auburn
5- LSU
5- Louisville
4- Nebraska
4- Virginia Tech
3- North Carolina
2- Arizona State
2- Pittsburgh
2- Kansas
2- Michigan State
2- Pitt
2- Syracuse
2- Michigan
Those are just the opponents played at least twice during the 10-year period. Now they are stuck playing Boston College, Wake Forest, Louisville, NC State, and Syrcause every single season and rarely do any of those opponents create an interesting match-up that any fan outside of the two teams cares to watch.
Notre Dame hitching their wagon to the ACC also causes them to play fewer great OOC opponents. They used to fill their schedule with 11 good opponents every year. Now they play 4-5 crappy ACC teams every season.

I do not waste my time nor clicks on mediocre to bottom tier publications
The Vols were ranked #25 by ESPN, 247sports, Saturday Down South, and The Detroit Free Press.... they were ranked #24 by Yahoo Sports and Champion Insiders... They were ranked #22 by Fansided and the Dallas Morning News... and lastly #19 by College Football News.
They were completely left out of the Top 25 by Athlon, Sporting News, the Toledo Blade, CBS, Game Haus, Orlando Sentinel, USA Today, Watch Stadium, Washington Post, Saturday Blitz, and Bleacher Report.
The consensus of all 19 of those publications results in a preseason rank of #30 for the Vols.
I see no way possible for any consensus to rank Tennessee all the way up at #22 unless it was literally just an average of College Football News and one other site.
I also wouldn't call Athlon, Sporting News, and CBS "bottom tier publications".

You did not include the Rancho Cucamonga Times-Free Press, Phil Steele’s 2020 College Football Preview, the Ardmore Beacon, or Lonald Weiler-Sledge’s bi-weekly newsletter amongst other reputable football publications.
Do your homework next time, BHMKyle.

I just checked.... not ranked in any of those either.
Let's do a consensus of these reputable publications:
Athlon
Sporting News
CBS
USA Today
.... after all the calculations, Tennessee is no where to be found! Congrats. Good thing you start out with Charlotte next year instead of Georgia State.

How is Clemson vs ND out of Conference but GT vs ND left off your list
I think that GT plays them on Nov 7 or the 14th

USC SEC timeline:
Skull fricked by Bama
watches Ed O on Gameday say it was the second saddest day of his life being passed over by USC
Had to watch ED O win a title after passing on him because of how he speaks
Skull fricked again by Bama
