2019 SEC Offensive Freshman of the Year

I'll first tell you who it might be, and then finish it off by telling you who it will be, like I did last year. As usual, redshirt freshmen don't count.
First up, Bo Nix. Watching Bo's highlights, it's easy to see why he was so highly ranked. At first, I thought he might be a run first guy, making up for deficiencies with pure athleticism against HS opponents. This is incorrect. He just happens to have great speed that's easy to use when he knows it's a sure thing. His passing accuracy is excellent, and he throws well on the run. The fact that he wasn't named starter earlier might be due to his age, or maybe he's just not ready yet. He definitely has the tools. He also has the best opportunity to be FOTY, because he'll have the ball every snap.
Trey Burks, Arkansas
""He reminds me of [Julio Jones] with his size and his ease and how he can catch a ball in a by position. So definitely would be Treylon Burks [stands out the most among the freshmen]," Arkansas sophomore free safety Joseph Foucha said. “I didn’t see the [one-handed] catch today, but I definitely saw the catch yesterday on film. At first we thought he didn’t catch it, but we watched it on another video and a better angle and he grabbed it in. That’s why I said he reminds me of Julio. I have only saw Julio do something like that"
Lofty comparisons to great players grow on trees, and it bugs me that he doesn't seem to be regularly working out with the 1's. Fellow Freshman Knox is also good, but Burks seems to be getting the most hype.
Jerrion Ealy, Ole Miss
When a guy passes on being drafted very early to play a nice, low-impact sport with very high impact salary, just to get his shite knocked around several times a day, he must be pretty good. Strange, though, that he would decommit from the MLB to play for the worst team in the SEC, home state notwithstanding. Nice "get," y'all. Phillips is a good back, but Ole Miss needs a star, and Ealy is the best candidate.
I'm surprised he didn't commit to Bama with that tat.
>
George Pickens, Georgia
Georgia expects great things from Pickens, and has the hype practice videos to prove it. To his advantage, he won't have to compete with many experienced starters for a spot. Fromm has fewer proven targets this year after losing Nauta, Ridley and Hardman to the NFL draft, and Georgia has brought in transfers to pick up the slack. Clearly, the stage is set for someone to emerge as the star of Georgia's latest failed championship run.
>
And the winner is -------- John Emery, LSU.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a very good back, and he has that killer instinct. Seriously, is there anything more gangster than kiling a guy over a PlayStation a week before playing in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl? That's impressive, but Clyde is simply too small to be a 20+ carry/game player. I really don't think Lanard is going to suddenly become a superstar after all these years, and Curry has found that to be a "mini-Marshawn Lynch" means that he actually has very little in common with Marshawn Lynch. Being bigger and stronger is kind of the point with Marshawn.
Emery is bigger, stronger and faster than all of the other backs, and he can catch as well, something we're told there will be more of this year. If he can learn the offense and has developed his pass protection skills, he'll be the SEC FOTY. His acceleration is insane, and he has a lateral jump cut that can turn a 6 yard gain into a 70 yard TD. Call me a homer, but I picked a Bama guy to win this last year (he did).
Emery looks like too much of a douchebag in his regular picture poses, so I'll go with this helmeted, hype version.

What did helaire do over a playstion?

Gotta go with Nix. AU's D-line and O-line should cover for some freshman mistakes. He should thrive in Gus QB friendly offense...at least QB friendly to those who can run it.

Ealy will get way more touches than Emery. LSU is going to spread the ball around. So I will go with Ealy who is also a special talent.

Agree- there are a lot of "special talents" running the ball in the SEC.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh, Ealy definitely didn't decommit from MLB.
To paraphrase Major League: He ran like Mays, but he hit like shite

He’s heavier than Emery and heavier than Trayveon Williams who averaged 20.8 carries last year. You don’t know football
Emery is built like a wide receiver. Better get in the weight room

If you do a defensive version, I'd like to submit Demani Richardson (S, A&M) as an option.
