Clemson had the #1 defense in CFB prior to the championship game.
Clemson was also the returning champ and on a 29 game winning streak and had beaten Bama 44-16 the previous season in the championship game.
The buckeyes would have been an interesting game from a storyline standpoint, but LSU was going to destroy anyone that got in the way in 2019.

It was 37-29 until a late Texas field goal made it a two score game in the final 2 minutes. A&M actually outgained Texas
Aggies came to play and battled the Longhorns for 4 quarters

Wrong!!!!
2004 USC had a great defense with big, fast top recruits (basically SEC style) that held a crazy explosive OU team with a Hiesman QB and Adrian Peterson to 19 points after scoring 55 which is not giving up much if you score that much.
2005 Texas had big, fast top recruits (basically SEC style) that held an insaneley Explosive TD happy big 12 conference, with teams like Texas Tech for example who scored 81 fricking points on someone around that time, held that league to 13 points per game while they averaged 50 points per game on offense. And you give up more points when you score more typically so what does that say about how good both of those defenses where, who had plenty of 5 stars, all Americans and award winners?

Dude if you guys barely beat that shitty 2019 Texas team by 7 then 2004 USC and 2005 USC and 2005 Texas woulda butt raped you by 30 which were all about 4 times better than that 2019 Texas team on their worst days.
2019 Texas was ranked in the top 10 at game time.
2004 USC won 4 games by 1 score, 3 of which were against unranked teams. Both of those 2005 teams won 2 games by 1 score. Just admit that all you remember are their records.

I just said A&M played hearts out in bitter rivalry at A$M’s stadium, are you deaf?
They still kicked their asses 40-29
Aloooottttttttt different from the realy close game LSU had against an out of conference non rival, and theirs was alot closer without the bitter desire to defeat eachother and 2019 Texas not pouring heart out like A&M did against us.

So nasty that they let Clemson put 29 on them while only scoring 23. We put up 42 on that same D while allowing 25.

All i remember is Texas offense averaging 50 points per game while defense only allowed 13 points per game and insane superhuman performances by Vince Young going undefeated and winning a National Championship
And USC with two heisman players (one looking like a futuristic Barry Sanders blowing motherfrickers off the map) on same team and also Lindele White, team going on a 34 game win streak and two straight national championships while averaging 49 points per game in 2005 as well. Sports experts everywhere said they were greatest team of all time, which they were!!! And Texas beat them cuz Texas was so damn good they were video game like.
Anything else ive ever seen from old miami, nebraska teams footage to Bama and 2019 LSU looked like they woulda got blown off the map by either one of those teams!
Ha!!!!

2019 LSU offense did not hit their stride until after that early game in Austin. That's why I expect much more out of this LSU offense moving forward this year.

I dont think Burrow would have dropped so many bombs on that OSU secondary and LSU really didnt have a domina nt runing game, maybe LSU wins ,but prob 7-10 poits at most

Semis told us Ohio State and Clemson were about even.
Ohio State had a chance to put Clemson away early and settled for field goals. 16-0 should have 28/24-0.
LSU still wins the natty but I think it would have been a better game.

And i know that Texas team in 2019 was top 10 and i watched them and i watched 2004 USC and 2005 USC and 2005 Texas and those three teams were 4 times better than Texas 2019 on their worst day. if you only beat 2019 texas by 7 then those three woulda gave you the blues for sure.
Those 3 woulda beat 2019 Texas by 35.
Remember Texas beat Colorado 70-3 in big 12 championship a colorado team who was tanked earlier that year and this is big 12 championship game, not a regular season game.
Ultimately thats what made colorado run to pac10

That LSU offense had 2 WRs who can’t be covered by NFL defenses and a QB who could get them the ball anywhere. The defense didn’t really matter.

Ohio St shoulda beat georgia in 4 team playoff in 2003 too, they were up late in 4th quarter.
Posted on 9/2/25 at 8:54 am to Texoticlifestyles531
They blew that one
