If this happens it will truly be a heartbreaking season and once again Miles will be in the hot seat. Losing to Bama will be plenty enough to get that ball rolling and a lost to Arkansas again the week after might be the dagger in the side.

No I'm not, I'm just surrounded by idiots who are more concerned with taking what I'm saying out of context and changing their arguments than listening to what I'm saying. I'll respond to a post from a completely different person saying that Miles is a better coach than Bielema and SummerOfGeorge is trying to use it as an example of why I'm "contradicting myself". I was simply pointing out that Miles is better than Bielema, it has nothing to do with the conversation I'm having with him

But you are totally contradicting yourself over and over and over. It's been very entertaining.

Your "context" is simply that past performance has no bearing on the outcome of the next game, which is true and we haven't been arguing that aspect. We've been arguing that as far as making educated guesses on the outcome, before the season, past performance DOES weigh in. You went apeshit wondering how anyone could predict a loss at Arkansas during the upcoming season when LSU has "better talent" on paper, we're trying to tell you how.
Are we clear?
Are we clear?

quote:Because we're much more talented this year and our coaching staff is much better. Do you not understand the difference between saying that living, breathing, tangible players and coaches who still exist are better/more talented/more competent than Arkansas' is a more sound argument than referring to isolated events in history that don't exist anymore? You just showed how stupid you are when you tried to mock me by taking me quoting our coaches' accomplishments as evidence that they're competent and compare it to your dumb arse using the gambler's fallacy to act like Arkansas has a good shot this year
What are the reasons you think that LSU will beat Arkansas?

How did you come to the conclusion that LSU's players are better than Arkansas'? Did you use past history of performance to determine this? How did you determine that LSU has a better coaching staff than Arkansas. Did you use their past performance and record?

Please, please, please stop using that term. It makes my eyes bleed when I see it used so blatantly wrong and out of context.

quote:No, it doesn't. Repeat this as many times as you want. No, it does fricking not. Our coaching staff is different, the players on the field are different, ya'll's players are different, your coaches are different, and it isn't 2014 anymore. Do you not get that I'm being a smartass when I say that LSU has been hugely successful against Arkansas during certain stretches so that must mean that we're going to beat Arkansas next year? You can't name a cutoff of which past years are relevant to this year because NONE OF THEM ARE. And if you think they are, then which ones are relevant? The past 2 years? The past 4? The past 6? If you can't name a specific number of which past performances help your educated guesses then shut the frick up and stop arguing that dumb shite
past performance DOES weigh in

The whole point of LSU fan's excitement is that 90% of the players on the field for them are not different.

Reverse gambler's fallacy, please educate yourself you dumb hick:
quote:It couldn't be applied more perfectly to the retarded logic that you and other posters keep trying to defend. We're still sitting here arguing about whether or not past performances help you make an educated guess about the future, when the answer is no. And none of ya'll will respond with specifically why I'm wrong about it not being applicable because you can't
The reversal can also be a fallacy in which a gambler may instead decide, after a consistent tendency towards tails, that tails are more likely out of some mystical preconception that fate has thus far allowed for consistent results of tails. Believing the odds to favor tails, the gambler sees no reason to change to heads. Again, the fallacy is the belief that the "universe" somehow carries a memory of past results which tend to favor or disfavor future outcomes. However, it is not necessarily a fallacy as a consistent observed tendency towards one outcome may rationally be taken as evidence that the coin is not fair.

I see you've gone from full-blown dumb to full-blown rustled, and you didn't even read my last post other than the part about past performance weighing in to something. You may need to take a breather and step outside, I feel like the blood vessels are probably popping out on your forehead right now.
