Is your revelation that if A&M is playing badly and losing that it gets quieter at Kyle? Amazing.

I can list off a dozen examples of 2nd halves at Kyle where you couldn't hear the person standing next to you at times. Yes, the crowd will vary in terms of volume and energy based on the play on the field though. Like everywhere else.

The point of the thread is there will be a one year increase of 23k or so (technically 27k) before dropping down to the more permanent 102,500 capacity. It's unusual, most renovations you go backwards to go forward but this is going the other way. It has to do with all the luxury seating being added to the West Deck will actually decrease capacity on that side. They are going from 60 boxes to 115 and 2000 club seats to 5500.

This renovation is LOOOOOONNNNG overdue. It, coupled with the SEC newness only makes fapping that much more.

Hell, I've got a bad case of tennis elbow and carpel tunnel.

I've only been to Kyle once, and it was for a marquee matchup, and it was just not very loud, Jordan-Hare, Arky's fayetteville stadium, TS, the swamp, BDS, and Neyland are all stadiums I have been to that are louder.

I haven't seen this much obsession over a stadium renovation since Mississippi State fans were fapping to their proposals a couple of years ago

I have no doubt it gets annoying. Still, this is one of those rare times when the plan they are going with is the biggest and most expensive option. It's the most expensive renovation in college football history. It's the most extreme renovation in college football history. It's going to make Kyle into the premier college football stadium in history. It's been a long time coming and its going to make coming to a game at Kyle into a true event even for visitors.

The great news to me though is they have set up the financing so that they only need to sell out season and luxury seating at about 70-80% to break even. They aren't mortgaging the program to do it. They have also already sold 11 of the 12 "Founders Suites" that are the really big ticket items ($10-15 mill donations per just for the license to buy not including the annual fees).

It's truly a transformative event for A&M.

ATM has money, so it just does not surprise me that much. I think it is great that they are doing this. Good for them and the SEC.

I can believe that. The current configuration of Kyle is not very "noise efficient". The new Kyle though will have a lowered field with the seats close to that field, a fully enclosed space, and covers over the East and West Decks to keep the sound in. It's going to be deafening when complete.

...and it's a big enough deal to keep Aggressor's post length to a record minimum for him.

Why wouldn't it sell out? It's only 5k more seats or so

Depends on where you were sitting. Some places in Kyle are very loud. Some aren't. It's just the way the stadium is currently configured. The new design should help that.

And I've been to many games at Kyle and TS. Anybody that claims a large difference in the sound is either a homer that's blinded by loyalty (no fault in that), or experienced unequal games at the two stadiums.

Gun to head I probably say the loudest I've heard a stadium was late 4Q in BDS for A&M game (3 50 yd passes by Bama, a Bama TD, and a what appeared to be a forced 3&out), then 2010 Tiger Stadium LSU vs Bama after the 4th down conversion, then 2010 Kyle Field A&M vs Nebraska. Don't remember exact play. I was pretty drunk

I haven't been to the swamp yet. I hear it gets loud and with the size of Tennessee's stadium it would have to be also when full

It's a 1 year jump from essentially 87k to 109k instead of 102k. Also all the new seats will be the "cheaper" seats by comparison to the ones on the West Deck. The demand has increased a lot but to say that A&M will sell out for Lamar while adding 23k to capacity in one year with minimal change to the prime seating is optimistic to say the least. The "long term add" is about 16k.

The expansion is really about the long term as it is. A&M is adding over 10k living alumni per year right now (graduating over 12k while the Classes of the '40s and '50s were less than 2k). They decided to go ahead and go big now because it didn't make financial sense just to do another addition in 5 years for a variety of reasons. Better to build it the way you want it now.
