I don't think Auburn played any offensive juggernauts in 2004, either

They finished #3 in the country in scoring defense. #7 in total defense. Why is it inconceivable to be that much better?

Its not, I never said you guys would not get better but your comparing it to one of the best defensive teams in college footbal..that year yall only allowed a avg of like like 10 points a game...

The Citadel was pretty powerful.

I wasn't even trying to compare it to the 1992 defense. I was saying it could be better than 2009.

My tigers defense will be good and improved from last year but I wont say they are going to be better than the 03,06 or 07 defense

Its tough to compare PPG allowed b/c offenses score more points now than they did in 1992. For instance, the top 10 offenses in 1992 averaged 31 ppg. The top offenses in 2010 averaged 42 ppg.

LSU's '03 D is the best SEC D since '92 Bama. '09 Bama is right up there with them, but '03 was a little better.

'92 Bama >>>> '03 LSU > '09 Bama

'Bama's defense should be pretty damn good next year. This year they were pretty raw and inexperienced. I never said that this past defense was going to be great. We lost ELEVEN starters and significant contributors. They had A LOT of flashes of brilliance but it was very inconsistent at times and we were still a top defense in the SEC. This next year with the experience we have. . They SHOULD be the best unit in the SEC and possibly in CFB.

But there were more run based offenses then. Alabama gave up less than 50 YPG on the ground.

2011 Alabama defense can be one of the more talented team. .'Bama has ever had. It's just of the experience and maturity gets there.
