Maurice's is not good BBQ

Doc's isn't good anymore either.. at least IMO. It tastes too gristly/fatty or something. It's really gone downhill.

Agree to disagree. Although I will admit it was not as good this weekend as it was several years ago when I tried it for the first time. Still, that sauce is awesome.
Now, I'm sure you'll regale me with a hundred local SC joints that are better, and I've no doubt they are. But I'm not from the area so Maurice's is easy to find when I'm passing through.

Incredibly disappointed in Doc's. It used to be good. Now it is complete shite.

Agreed.
Love the BBQ in our state. It was a great excuse to get lost out in the rural areas and small towns.

Mustard based sauce/BBQ is the devil, and I'm from Columbia. Vinegar based all the way.

That is the best part. Lots of great vinegar bbq in our state, too.
I'll eat mustard, but I prefer vinegar as well.

That spicy vinegar sauce at Brown's is on fire

Defensive stops for y'all were hard to come by that day. With the exception of Garcia getting a bad snap on the first play of the 2nd half and just throwing it out the back of the endzone for a safety, I only remember 1 MAYBE 2 times where we were forced to punt. That coupled with good Redzone D were the difference makers IMO.

We also played in 2009 in Bryant-Denny. It was the game that won Ingram the Heisman since he basically beat y'all all by himself.
Completely forgot about that. And it isn't listed in the particular history I was looking at for some reason. My bad.

I was driving through Columbia over the weekend and stopped to eat at a Maurice's, because that barbecue is the shite. There were two framed newspaper front pages hanging inside: one for the baseball NC that y'all won a few years ago, and one for the 2010 win over Alabama. So I'm guessing that must have been a pretty big deal for y'all.
1. If you think Maurice's is good, you need to take the 45 minute drive to Batesburg and eat at Shealy's after trying Jackie Hites.
2. You should definitely make time for Bernie's chicken by Willy B if you like fried chicken. Un-frickin-believable.
3. Yes, it was absolutely a huge deal for us. It was the very 1st time we beat a #1 ranked team in the history of our program iirc. (Don't hate)

I, too, would suggest going to Jackie Hites before going to Shealy's BBQ in Bateburg.

quote: 2012 UGA Yep..that was an amazing game and the atmosphere was electric. Damn place was literally shaking from everyone jumping up and down chanting "USC" during Sandstorm. quote: 2009 Ole Miss That was when they were ranked #4, right? And until we beat #1 Bama the following year, beating #4 Ole Miss was the highest ranked team we'd beaten at home, right? Garcia said the Ole Miss game was the loudest he'd ever heard it at Willy B during his entire time there.
I went to all 3 games. The UGA game was by far the loudest. Followed by the Bama game and then Ole Miss.
I was in the upper deck for UGA, and you could feel the stadium swaying. It was hands down the most fun game I've been to.

Alshon Jeffries who dropped a lot of passes at USC caught every fricking thing that day!
The frick? Alshon did not drop a lot of passes at USC. Dude probably has the best hands of any receiver we've ever had.

It's also not Alshon "Jeffries" - why can't anyone get his name right?
It's Alshon JEFFERY.
It's Alshon JEFFERY.
