I keep seeing Georgia fans referencing their 2007 team as the best in the country over the 2nd half of the season. What is the rational for this belief other than heart, silver britches and because I said so?
Was it the win over Hawaii? Lol. A downward trending auburn? A rivalry win over a 4 loss Florida team? I just don’t see it.
Date/opponent/outcome/opponents final record
9-1-07 OKLAHOMA STATE WON 35-14
9-8-07 SOUTH CAROLINA LOST 12-16 (6-6)
9-15-07 WESTERN CAROLINA. WON 45-16 (1-10)
9-22-07 at Alabama WON 26-23 - OT (6-6)
9-29-07 MISSISSIPPI WON 45-17 (7-6)
10-6-07 at Tennessee LOST 14-35 (10-4)
10-13-07 at Vanderbilt WON 20-17 (5-7)
10-27-07 vs. Florida WON 42-30 (9-4 including a loss to Michigan in the bowl game)
11-3-07 TROY WON 44-34 (8-4)
11-10-07 AUBURN WON 45-20 (9-4 including losses to South Florida & Mississippi State)
11-17-07 KENTUCKY WON 24-13 (8-5 with a losing SEC record)
11-24-07 at Georgia Tech WON 31-17 (7-6)
1-1-08 Hawai'i WON 41-10 (12-1)

So give some other teams you think were better down the stretch hoss.
Edit: I don’t remember every team or game but I remember all the chaos, especially the last weekend where several teams in front of us lost.

Because we are fans. Wow did you really take the time to do that?

We wanted to play Southern Cal for the record but they got stuck with Illinois. UGA vs USC would have been huge and probably caused a split title

So UGA's best team beats Nick's worse Bama team in OT. Is that the story.

Yes, that’s why it says “over the 2nd half of the season” fricktard

I know this is a shitty troll job but frick it. There weren't any truly great teams that year but it was pretty clear that Georgia was one of the best near the end with USC having a strong case for being the other top team.

We were good enough to convince pollsters to give us preseason #1 ranking in 2008. Don’t forget that piece of the story

Did someone say off-season champions?

2012 team was better. 2007 didn’t have any great team.

Maybe 2007 team wasn’t amazing in the 2nd half, but I wouldn’t have bet against them. Just another example of LSU luck.

Georgia and USC were playing the best football down the stretch of that ‘07 season. Georgia being Georgia, however, they lost to two teams they had no business losing to.

I mean, didn’t everyone that year?

Why do you care about a UGA team from 07?

LSU luck.
Only LSU could lose their final regular season game to an unranked team and still play for the natty.

2007 was a weird roller coaster of a year. Hell, after Bama beat Tennessee 42-17, a lot of people had them pegged as a potential BSC at-large berth. Then they lost their next 4 games, including La Monroe, and played a snoozer bowl game against Colorado.

1. There was a lot more parity back in those days of College Football and especially that year. The eventual NC had 2 losses too. Nearly every resume in 2007 can be picked apart in similar fashion. Unfortunately we didn't get the Bama treatment when it came to the whole "not winning your division" thing.
2. UGA had multiple wins over ranked teams down the stretch and the games weren't particularly close either. While everyone else seemed to be losing left and right.
