Which team had more overall talent on their roster? Also, who was the bigger disappointment?

LSU 2006 lost to the eventual national champions, and the only team to beat the eventual national champions.

Alabama 2010 lost to a mediocre LSU team, a mediocre South Carolina team, and a very good Auburn team.

LSU 2006 > Bama 2010.

3 losses kind of a disappointment. I thought we'd lose two.

We lost half our football team from last year and 22 players played their first minutes this year.

My expectation is simple for Alabama as long as Saban is the coach... We will win championships the years we have enough experience on defense. The other years we will experience ups and downs.

Underachieving? This team was a good offense away from being something special. Nonetheless, our pathetic offense did enough to beat this Bama team, who I'm sure Bama fans will insist was better than it actually was.

My records say Auburn was the only team to beat the national champions that year.

Agree. 2006 LSU was the best LSU team I have ever seen.

Winning a NC does not always mean you had the best team. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it just means you had the right schedule and got some key breaks.

2006 LSU was a dominant team that did not get the breaks, but likely would have beaten any team in the country down the stretch.

Also played four road games against good SEC opponents. Had those games been at home, it might have been a different story.

In TS, LSU would have beaten AU by 10 that year. The crowd at JH absolutely carried the AU team and especially defense that entire game.
