First, as I'm sure all of you are painfully aware of, Texas A&M is not the flagship school in the state
False, there are two flagship schools in Texas and we are one of them.

That seems to be the main thing Aggy is taking issue with. When people say Flagship they're not talking about university systems, it's the perceived #1 school in the state. You can't have two #1's.

UT is the flagship of Texas.....always has and always will be.

If you didn't read it all, fine. I understand. But what is the point of responding when you didn't read the entire topic of conversation, which, if it meant enough to respond, would take barely a few minutes?
Ain't nobody here got that long of an attention span pops

Gumps keep getting worse. I hope no one believes any of this.

Texas A&M is the flagship university of the SEC. Say what you want but it's bigger, higher rated, has more
Money, and more respected in the job
Market than any other school in the conference. Enjoy your flagship status of one the poorest, most unedecated states in the country.

What about the 7 years we were a school and they didn't exist? Can we at least get those?

We are larger. Are a land, sea, air, and space grant institution. Our graduates make more. We are older...

Being the flagship of Arkansas or Mississippi is like marrying your prettiest cousin. Congratulations, kind of.

Texas is actually the only state with two flagship universities. Sorry, Aggie fans honest mistake......I am from MS so I am used to the thought of just one flagship.

Probably my only pet peeve about the Rant. Just because something is "Long", it doesn't mean the content isn't well-written and worth the read.

Even using your terms, A&M is still the Flagship now, at least w/r/t football:
2014 Recruiting Rankings
Credit where credit is due, a good bit of this is thanks to our new status as the lone SEC school in Texas.
But even if we weren't the "flagship", it really doesn't matter, as there's so much talent in Texas, there's enough for two or three "flagship" quality programs, a la UF/FSU/Miami in Florida.

Interesting post by the OP.
A&M might be the little brother for now, but BigTex needs to look over their shoulder.

quote:The only reason A&M finished third in the division is due to their LSU-Style Bridge Schedule.
First off, despite their success, the team finish THIRD in their division, all while fielding their most talented team in decades, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
If the Aggies had a Crimson Tide-Style Bridge Schedule last year, they would have won the division.

Assuming the Bridge Schedules are fair is a preconceived notion that no one should fall under the spell of.
