Clint Stoerner is responsible for Tennessee's last national championship in football

Tenner got breaks all year long. Got a fantom PI call against Syracuse in the first game of the year that allowed them to win 34-33. Beat Florida 20-17 in OT when Florida missed a chip shot FG. A DT returned a fumble 95 yds against Auburn, at least a 10 point swing, and won by a TD. Some dude named Outzen had to QB Florida State in the championship game because Weinke was injured.

Actually the refs are responsible because the ground cannot cause the fumble, which is what happened.

Ok

The refs got the call wrong to give Tenn the win over Ark.

Yes, they did...but not on that call. On the Arkansas possession before that, there was a bad snap to the punter and he turned and kicked the ball out of the back of the end zone. The refs called a safety, when the correct call would have been Tennessee's ball 1/2 the distance to the goal from the point of contact (which would have been the 5 yard line). The way Travis Henry was moving the ball, Tennessee would have been in on one play and would have gone up before Stoerner even goten the ball on the "Stumble-Fumble" possession.

Thats back when Tenn and Roy Kramer ran the refs and they got a LOT of calls their way.

Apparently not in this case...or else it wouldn't have even come down to that play.

Is this a serious post? The QB trying to brace himself with the ball isn’t the ground causing the fumble. Oh by the way, the refs screwed Tennessee earlier in the fourth quarter. Arkansas snap went over the punter’s head and he kicked it through the end zone. The refs awarded Tennessee a safety. The correct call should have been half the distance from where the ball was kicked, giving Tennessee a first down around the Arkansas 10-yard line.

You mean the phantom pass interference call that even the Big East admitted was the correct call?

The great Chris Weinke who was completing 50% of his passes prior to being injured in November? By the way, Outzen was good enough to beat a damn good UF team that year.

what are...oh, you're talking about national titles? Those are hard to come by and you're competing with 100 other teams for one. Meh.

By my math though, the longest we've ever gone between SEC titles was 20 years and tennessee is currently at 26 years and counting on that front..

I was a sophomore in high school. And they had Peyton manning for four years. It took him graduating for them to win a natty in 1998, on a fricking fricking fumble by Arkansas lmao. frick Tennessee.

Also, FSU’s starting QB (Chris Weinke) was injured and the backup had . The backup only started 2 games his entire career and struggled huge. 9/22 with 2 ints including a long pick 6. Tennessee was lucky.

UGA SEC titles went 1982-2002. Thats 20 years. Vols are at 27 IF they can win it in 2025.

As fat as Tennessee fans are, why don't they space the seats out at Neyland?

Tennessee wasn't nearly the best team in CFB in 1998. They got lucky.

In 1998, a McDonald's Big Mac hamburger cost around $2.50.

Which is the point of this thread. Without the fumble you don't get the Fiesta. It did allow you to keep Fulmer longer than you should which screwed you royally in the end.

Sorry Mo Jo...ment for a volunteer fan.

Same nonsense comment you always make. Every sec team cares about sec titles as it’s the 2nd biggest prize to win. Thats what makes their streak more numerous.

You're full of shite. Georgia got lucky a couple of times during their National Championship runs. Everyone does. I swear you dawg fans are the biggest idiots in these forums. It's like you're in a contest to see who can post the stupidest bullshite.

Sit you're ignorant arse down. Your little 2-year "dynasty" is over. You're just another also-ran team now. Don't worry another 40 years will pass before you know it, and you might be back in the hunt.

You're so stupid. Nobody wins the national championship without a couple of lucky breaks going their way at some point in the season.

Like I told that other dawg idiot. You can sit your arse down. Your little run is over.

You might get lucky this year, and tie the win streak Tennessee holds over you.
