Crush Georgia? Okydokey. I’m resigned to an arse whipping by Georgia this weekend. Not sure where this home field confidence comes from but there will be plenty of Georgia fans at the SECCG. It’ll be a heck of a game to watch. But don’t count chickens too quickly.

A buddy and I have bought 4 SEC CG tickets every year since the first year it was in Atlanta. He is a Gator so when UF is in it he gets them, when UGA is in it I get them, and when neither is in it we sell them. We have asked every year which team the buyer was rooting for and it is almost always Alabama. Did have some SC fans buy them one time but if Alabama is in the game it is almost always Alabama fans. Given the run that Alabama has been on there is a sizeable number of people in Alabama whose retirement age has been extended several years due to their buying tickets to SECGs and Bowl Games and what not. If it is UGA and Alabama UGA will have a slight edge in numbers but it won't be by much....Alabama fans, say as many bad things as you can think of about them because they deserve it, have flat out spent a FORTUNE for nearly 20 years following the Tide...this year will be a big one for them because they all sense the end is near....

In 1978, Alabama wrapped it all up with a victory over the undefeated and #1 Nittany Lions in a Sugar Bowl that still lives on in lore as one of the greatest college football games of all time.

Southern Cal ended their 1978 season with a win over a team, the Wolverines, in the Rose Bowl, that lost to an 8-3 Michigan State during the regular season.

Why are you bragging about a team that ended up a co-champion?

A co-champion is still a champion, my guy. You should know as your program shares a national championship with Ohio State from 1957.

Bama doesn’t even have a legitimate title since 2017.

This is such bullshite. Every team played by the same rules in 2020. At least every SEC team did. Any of the other 13 conference members as well as the two incoming ones would have proudly claimed a title had they won it on the field as Bama did. Other fan bases just like to call it illegitimate or put an asterisk by it because they did not adapt to the Covid restrictions and overcome adversity as proficiently as Alabama did.

Sit down clown, with that wishful thinking. The standard is where it should've been all along, with UGA.

Unless teams lose that are ahead of us Bama is boxed out of Playoff even if we win out. Furthermore, say Georgia is #1 in a few weeks and loses to Bama 20-17 or so. Do they really drop all the way from #1 to #5? I'm not so sure. 12-0 might get Georgia in like it did a few years ago regardless of SEC Championship Game. Yes, their schedule has been a joke but committee seems to love them and they are 2 time defending champs. People don't realize all that matters is the committee's opinion(s).

mentioning 78 without mentioning Arkansas knocking off OU for you is quite the self absorbed take, Baw.

This. If nobody ever said it I would like to thank the Razorback nation for this.
Having seen the Sugar Bowl in person I will say that was the most physical game I have ever seen to this day. Major ogilvie said that Penn St team was the best team he ever played against.

‘77 Tide got robbed. ‘78 had some fortune but earned it with the Sugar Bowl win. I read how The Bear convinced Joe Pa to come to New Orleans and settled it.

you know what happened after the 1978 season? UGA went on to win the title in 1980 and rule the SEC for 3 years. After the 1982 season Bear retire

Is 1979 one of those years that conspiracy theorist think didn't happen?

1978 would have been an epic year for a 4-team playoff:

Alabama,Oklahoma,Penn State,Southern Cal.

By the way, Alabama has their friends at Missouri to thank for the Sugar vs Penn State.
