In 6 days they beat

Ole Miss
LSU
Tulane
Texas
Texas A&M

Also beat Auburn, UGA, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and UNC to finish 12-0 but apparently they were scared to play Arkansas

They took a train for the most brutal part of the 1899 schedule.

I don't think there were any rails or paved roads that went to Fayetteville in 1899. Maybe not in 1950.

Yes they were. If you read the history of that school, it was literally built off of slavery.

Of course they were. That Arkansas team crushed Joplin High School 11-10. Sewanee didn't want any part of that.

wrong

it is true that the initial idea of the university was put forth by the southern Episcopal diocese and wealthy southerners (many of which would have derived their wealth from slavery directly or indirectly). However after the initial cornerstone was layed, the Civil War broke out. The Cornerstone was blown up by union troops.

When the war was over, there was no more slavery or even much southern wealth. The school was almost not built as all the original benefactors were either dead or flat broke. In fact they almost lost the land it was to be built on as that benefactor gave them 10 years to start construction.

They finally built the first wooden structure in 1866 for workers and the first classes started in 1868 after they raised sufficient funds through the Episcopal church in the North and in England.
