You think a 4 team is controversial ? Wait till a Liberty / James Madison gets in over traditional power for 12 seed.

College football Illuminati just can't get out of its own way.

The guaranteed bids for conf champs will still hose other more deserving teams.

This. Okay if you want a 12 team playoff fine. Make it whatever number of teams you want.

But the people who think that this decreases the drama over who got left out, seedings etc, you haven't paid any attention to the NCAA basketball tournament for the past 40 or so years.

And in football it's going to be 10x on that drama.

What does this even mean? Go back to bowl games only without playoffs?

The conference champ autobid is the dumb part.

We would be in the playoff if it were 12 team format.

Right now, the committee doesn't really have the perspective of top 12.

I'm betting LSU would be in if it were 12 teams.

Why do you think that?

Won't matter. Few give a shite if they get #12 and 13 wrong. As long as they include the top 8, in any order, it will be a big success.

It's in the same vein as discussing the top 4.

Only in that scenario, it's "do you leave the heisman winner out of the playoff"?

The committee wasn't worried about 5-12. Just 1-4. Under the 12 format a lot more thought would be given.

Tell that to a Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, in future years who would hang 50 on a Liberty.

Those schools have no business to be in this process.

Sure, but as it stands LSU would not be in and that’s what the poster said.

It's precisely how it works. That image isn't my ranking. I guess LSU would be beaten by OU, yes? Agree or disagree?

Because that's how this nonsense will go next year with 12 teams. It's going to be another disaster.

It's better to miss on #11/12 than to miss on #3/4.

It's all about more games and more money. They knew more Bama fans would sell their kids' Christmas presents to go to the game than FSU fans would go.

As for 12 teams, it should be 8 or 10 tops.

It needs to be 16, but it’s a lot harder to feel bad for the 13 seed because they might have 3 losses most years.
