I still can't believe we offered a basketball coach "between 4.2-4.9 million per year." A guy who has never successfully recruited a 4 star player is not worth that and I have been saying that long before he turned us down. This could be a blessing in disguise. That is Calipari/Donovan money for a guy who is far from a guarantee.
I would much rather have Archie Miller at 2.5 and then pay him 4.5 if he starts winning big.

As big a SHOW as Battle put on for Marshall, Archie won't be 2nd choice.

I would love that hire. Proven coach at the highest levels and a proven recruiter. I'm convinced that to consistently win in the SEC you have to be able to land 4 and 5 star talent. Two years ago Crean would have been completely out of our league. He did not suddenly forget how to coach in the last two years.

Go back and read my previous posts on this same thread if you wish. I was one of the only Bama fans showing any concern about his lack of recruiting ability and inexperience at a power 5 level. I would have been excited about the hire, no doubt, but also concerned about how badly we overpaid. If Marshall takes that job we would be stuck with him regardless of performance for the next 7 years or so.
