Yea except we had perfect timing with an NFL coach who wanted to return to college (and Bama football is a top 5 job). Bama basketball is not even a top 25 job and I don't see Brad Stevens coming to Bama anytime soon.

Me too. You cant fault Marshall for making that decision though... WSU came up to $3.3M per year. Thats a considerable raise. Also, Marshall isnt obligated to move his family or rebuild a program from the bottom up.

the only reason Auburn has him is that he was nuked by the NCAA and came back to college bball and the exact right moment and that's the only reason a school like Auburn got a coach like Pearl

...and Bama found themselves in the same situation with Saban...it was just good timing and a little luck. Saban wanted to get back into college and Pearl wanted back into coaching. We were both in positions looking to move on from an unsuccessful coach, and the obvious candidate was waiting.
