At this point in time, he could take the headlines from the shitshow that is the football team. Granted it could move back to football in a heartbeat if they get back on track, but there is absolutely no shot in Tuscaloosa.
Plus he gets to live in Austin.

It gets hot here in KS as well we had something like 9 days in a row last year with temps 100+. Coupled with nearly no rain the past 5 years or so, it becomes ridiculous. The humidity is definitely 10x worse in the SE though.
I would say that the milder winters in Tuscaloosa would be a plus for the fam. The wind cuts like a knife out here. When it gets into the single digits and the wind blows 25 mph all the time out here. I hate thinking about it.

kansas has much worse summer/winter weather than the deep south ... not even close ... they can go weeks with extreme heat, and get hit by sleet storms in the winter ... anything north of dallas is shiite far as weather goes ...
I quite aware of the region's weather. I lived in northwest Arkansas for some time. I have plenty of family in Missouri. I pheasant hunt in west Kansas on an annual basis.

I don't know how Kansas compares to Indiana, but these winters are miserable. I would take a huge pay cut to move away from the cold.

LOL at all these losers ITT discussing weather as if it's any concern to Marshall and his decision.

Might not make a huge difference... but visiting when it's 80 with a pleasant breeze would be a lot better than 50, rainy and windy. Or during the summer when it's 100 degrees and it's almost too humid to breathe.
That said, I wouldn't imagine weather would be something he and his family will spend much time considering otherwise.

It has nothing to do with his decision.

This argument is so overplayed in my opinion. There is plenty of room for football and basketball at Alabama. Football will always be king (just like it is at Texas as well as every school in the SEC except Kentucky), but a coach who brings championship level success to Alabama basketball would get huge support. Texas basketball is never going to be as big as Texas football and the same goes for Alabama. If a coach can't handle being the head man of the number 2 sport on campus, then he isn't going to Texas, Alabama and the vast majority of other schools with FBS football.

I agree with what you are saying. My only point is that the opportunity at UT is open more so than UA right this second. It could change in no time. The argument about ego and being overshadowed lends more to him pushing for a raise at Wichita than anything.
In the end, who the hell knows. Ego's, money, family etc.
ETA: I would have had the bags packed already on my way to Tuscaloosa.

Let's go JLee here and put a percentage on this Greg Marshall thing.
What've you guys got it at? 50%? 60%? 75%?
