Can you imagine the societal breakdown that would occur if 35% of the workforce nationwide just quit their jobs the same week? There would be pandemonium.

I could believe 35% are secretly looking for a better job, but damn this is like strutting into your boss's office and announcing it at the top of your lungs

And yet Georgia and Alabama, who can’t compete with ND, has many titles. Your reasoning don’t work.

. Some of these young men are leaving stable situations after getting bad advice

LSU has players who are in better than stable situations jetting. We’ve got players on a trajectory to becoming all-conference and are walking away like you or I would walk away from a plate full of spoiled meat.

Eventually coaches are gonna realize that only the second category of players are worth getting

Skip used to say this about baseball recruiting. Can’t spend a lot of time on the kids that may go to the MLB draft. Same principal here.

You want players that have NFL ability, are legitimate college students who value education, are content with a scholarship while everyone around them gets rich and entertained off their efforts, and are fiercely loyal to a school

Not really, it just cant be an all put cash grab like it is right now. If they deserve all this in college then why don't they deserve it in HS? That's not fair to the HS guys. Theres gotta be an end to it. If they went back to the old transfer rules all of this would stop. Either that or make jumping from the HS straight to NFL legal like basketball. Then use the USFL for the guys who aren't quite ready.
These guys are far from "College Athletes" anymore. That's what I cheer for, not a minor league squad

Just hate the idea of recruiting/begging players that are already on your roster to not go. Even the NFL isnt as bad as that.

I think random students should just start entering it at this point.

over 4,500 Division I college football players entered the transfer portal on the first day it opened

And, if previous portal trends hold true this time, about 1350 of those players won't find another home in the D-1.

Well, it's like your everyday job. You're more likely to get a larger raise going elsewhere compared to staying where you are.
What if you aren't as good as you think you are and no one picks you up? Do you have no place to go? You sure as hell wouldn't come back to my team if you entered the portal.

Thats exactly what I want to see happen...players that get left out and it puts a little fear in everyone...skin in the game if you will.
