This list is starting to clarify and solidify. The committee felt comfortable with all of the picks this week.

As always, this list chronicles the top SEC running backs by production on the field to date for the current season. Objective statistics are the primary criteria utilized in formulating this list, however, the statistics are set into context based on the quality of opponent upon which the statistics were accumulated. In some instances where the choice is close, a subjective eye test is also taken into account. Hype, injuries, suspensions, etc. are not considered. This isn't a list of most talented or a prediction of NFL draft status. It is just an unbiased look at which 5 SEC RB's are getting the job done the best on the field.

Without further adieu:

1. Mike Davis - His high level of play and consistency gets more and more impressive each week. While his team didn't get the job done in Knoxville, Davis did what he does in efficiently racking up yards out of the backfield. He was almost caught last week by Hill, but this week's performances give him a little breathing room at the top.

2. Jeremy Hill - Jeremy Hill's mediocre performance in Oxford kept him from keeping pace with Davis, but wasn't bad enough for him to get passed by the hard charging duo of RBs in Alabama.

3. Tre Mason - Don't be fooled by his diminutive stature. This undersized running back runs between the tackles with plenty of power and has the speed to be a home run threat as well. The most consistent and reliable player for AU this year.

4. TJ Yeldon - Alabama's domination of its relatively blah schedule may keep Yeldon from getting the recognition he deserves. Aside from some ball security issues that have plagued him a bit, Yeldon is consistently getting the job done and doing so very efficiently. He and Mason remain neck and neck on this list and have closed the gap with Hill.

5. Alex Collins - Collins' had an ok performance against a good Bama defense and remains at 5 on the list by default. The eye test reveals the talent is there, but the game log still reveals he does most of his really good work against bad competition. Some of that is natural and some is likely attributable to the quality of the team around him.

Just missed the list:

Todd Gurley - An injury is the only thing keeping Gurley off this list.

Rajion Neal - Neal had his chance to take over Collins' spot at #5 with Collins having just a decent game against the Tide. Unfortunately for Neal, his performance against USCe was underwhelming to say the least.

Brendan Douglas - If this young up and comer can pull off 5 straight 120+ yard performances to finish the regular season, he has a chance to crack the list (assuming injuries to one or more of those ahead of him).

I appreciate the thread each week.

I think this league is loaded at RB.

Multiple backups will be NFL players.

Dude, I was kiding. He wouldnt' make a list of the top 15 RBs. Please remove him from the OP so as not to besmirch the good name of this weekly offering.

Verry possible. Playing second fiddle to TJ has kept him from getting enough production to make the list though. He has a chance to climb if he continues his recent trend.

This year Drake has been more explosive and a better player. Than TJ. I concur.

He has come out of nowhere really.

I wonder if any of those 5 RBs that Bama recruited are having second thoughts yet.

Kamara would be a savior at UGA right now, instead he's riding pine.

If you're going on recent performance, I'm surprised Kenyan Drake didn't at least get a spot in Just Missed.

Last two games: 210 yards and 4 TDs.

Eta: I see I'm late to the party.

Neal did the heavy lifting against one of the toughest front sevens in America. In fact, I'd say he outperformed Davis. Outside of one fifty yard run early in the game, Davis was a complete non-factor for Carolina.

I konw! I saw him at NOrcross adn really thought he should have stayed in state. GT and UGA really wanted him.
