He likes the job he has at Alabama. He likes what he’s built at Alabama, and he has emphasized to me more than once in our conversations over the past few years that there are no other coaching horizons out there for him.

For one, Saban is the best in the business, the surest thing out there right now in college football. His agent, Jimmy Sexton, fields inquiries all the time -- both pro and college -- about whether or not Saban would be interested in making a move. Agents for all of the top coaches field those types of calls. It's a part of what they do as agents, although it rarely becomes public when those calls occur. The news would be if people weren’t calling.

There are all sorts of reasons why stories like that are leaked. Perhaps some in Texas are trying to turn up the heat on an embattled Mack Brown. Then again, maybe it was a ploy by those in Brown’s circle to drum up some compassion for the future Hall of Fame coach who, like anybody in his profession, wants to go out on his terms.

Because nobody has ever heard that before from him. Like I said before, you gumps are safe until he gets on television saying that "he will not be the next coach of the University of Texas"

Once that statement is made..... he gone.

Nah. Somebody in Texas leaked this for a reason. This has to do with Mack Brown, done by either the pro or anti Mack people. I'm sure Sexton gets calls about Saban all the time. Part of it.

If losing to BYU and firing Manny Diaz didnt light a fire under Brown then the thought of them bringing in Saban wont either. Mack is at the age when that could have adverse effects and he could be like "well if yall are pushing me out the door, then frick it." I dont think Texas would construe this whole thing or bring it back to light simply to give Brown incentive to do better.

I would be SHOCKED if he left.

Then very sad.

It would make living in Texas for the next year or two intolerable.

IF he goes, though, I've got nothing but love.

Grateful for the what he brought to the Program. I would wish him luck.....and be sad

Until some other coach is named the head coach at Texas, you have to consider that $$$$$ is just waiting for the Horns meet the magic number - whatever that is.

You Ala. fans have nothing to worry about .... unless the lil' one says, "I don't know how many times I have to say it, I will not be the coach at the University of Texas." If he says THAT, worry.

Chris Low is a little obnoxious with his "when he told me" shite. Like Saban gives a shite about him. He writes this blog likeness in Nicks circle of trust

Or the likely reason and most logical is Sexton releases these statements to get his client paid more money. He is not stupid, he knows Bama is willing to match Texas dollar for dollar.

Saban is gone. Don't worry, Bama isn't the only one that will be getting screwed by his move.

It's pretty simple really: Alabama goes on probation because of Fluker, Saban is gone. Alabama stays out of harms way, Saban stays.

This much you are correct about.

Saban does have a price but it's not for another college team. The NFL is the only unfinished business that could possibly lure him away.

Saban cost himself some money when he said he's too old to start over. He would have been much better served to just stay quiet and let Bama throw more money at him.

Most likely to the NFL in that scenario like Pete Carroll.

It was obvious from the reporter who leaked the story that it was given to him by Texas boosters. And, that wouldn't be the way for them to get Saban....being untrustworthy. This has to do with Mack Brown.
