Seems in pretty bad taste to announce this right after your sophomore year. Use some tact, play out your Jr. year, then announce you are leaving. It looks bad on Clowney IMO.

That is in bad taste. I do not wish him to be injured, but I hope he has a down year just because.

How is this a surprise to anyone? Dude has played incredibly hard and well. Why is this a bad thing?

I just don't get it. It is the truth. ALL of us KNOW its the truth...but, he can't SAY the truth?

It's a bit disrespectful IMO. Plus, you never know how your Jr season might turn out.

Well, I think it is obviously based upon previous performance. He is not bound to this course IF he were to struggle / get injured. I think it is understood that he is expecting to continue in the same fashion as he has.

Why bullshite around? He's been the most dominant DE since he came out of high school, and I don't even think he tries hard half the time.

It also screams "ME" and makes him seem less about the team and accomplishing team goals. I would hate to see LSU players come out and do this.

So if we get a bunch of cliche or coach speak we hammer a guy, but if he comes out and speaks his true intent, something that everyone knows already, we hammer him as well?

I completely disagree. There is NOTHING that indicates he is not a team player by simply acknowledging the obvious. Dude is an AMAZING DE and DE's get PAID big money in the NFL.

Of course he will leave after next season. He will try to help USC have an awesome season...and then declare.

Everyone knew by game two of last year that he would only stay in Columbia for 3 years.

As stout said, his response was in bad taste considering he isn't even eligible for the draft yet.

So I guess he should stay all four years and risk being the next Lattimore

Jadeveon is currently the consensus #1 overall pick for the 2014 draft. Why would he even consider staying in school based on the position he plays

I never said he shouldn't go after 3 years. How can you misconstrue this so bad?

I just think it's in poor taste to announce it so far in advance. Sort of disrespectful to his teammates and coaches.

I do not agree with either approach. Why not just say that he will evaluate things after next year? I am a big believer in education like to see people finish. That being said I understand the risks. Nonetheless, to speculate a year out is no more honest than saying let's wait and see.
