Michael Bennett is done for the season per multiple Twitter sources including Seth Emerson & Bulldawg Illustrated after an ACL injury he sustained in yesterday's practice. At least Malcolm Mitchell is moving back more to the offensive side of the ball this week.

Bennett, a redshirt sophomore, is Georgia's leading receiver 24 catches this year 345 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.

SethEmerson: Breaking: Georgia WR Michael Bennett tore his ACL yesterday and is out for the rest of the season, per UGA.

It sucks to lose anyone with a season ender, but it's gut wrenching when it happens in practice or garbage time

Exactly. Georgia's regression toward the mean.

That being said, hope the kid is OK. Hate to see things like this.

Sucks for Bennett. Having a good year.

Injuries are part of it, though. Can't use it as an excuse. Someone has to step up.

Farker,

do you visit the georgia sports board?

there is currently a 3-4 page thread over there about this and the discussion as to whether it is true...why not post what you got to dawgs fans first?

just wondering...

Bennett is a great receiver and this hurts...but it does not mean that UGA is going to implode...

You won't get any of that from me. I'm not kidding, Bennett was the one WR I would hate to lose most. Every other WR we have, we have another WR with a similar skillset that can bring similar things to the table. But that's not the case with Bennett. He has the best hands on the team and is in the slot a lot matched up on linebackers, that's a mismatch all day. He's tall and reliable and this really, really hurts. Although the silver lining is we DO have a pretty deep WR core so we should be able to pick up the pieces.

And btw, some of yall are real pricks for making comments like "oh typical UGA, here comes their fall back to earth" and other garbage. We had a starting WR get hurt, come the frick on.

I hate it for the kid..I really do.

However, UGA does always seem to be snakebit. Be it via injury or suspension.

Agree but injuries could be a big factor for this team going forward due to lack of depth at some key positions. We should be OK at WR but not in the trenches and in the DB. Here's hoping Bennett has a swift recovery.

With Bennett out, this will keep Malcolm Mitchell solely on the offense for the rest of the year. I expect Rantavious Wooten to see an expanded role the rest of the year as well.

Kiss my fricking arse. I sent my condolences. When you shrug it off like "no big deal" "we won't implode" I'm going to point it out. Why am I supposed to believe that UGA won't shite the bed when Richt is a decade in and has done it every year. Get off your fricking high horse
