What was Nick Saban thinking when he hired Kevin Steele as defensive coordinator

Man, Clemson's defense is a disaster in this game and their defense has been a major weakness since he's been their defensive coordinator. Actually looking back on 2007, Alabama's coordinators had to be the primary reason for the team's struggles that year. The team took off after Saban let Applewhite go and demoted Steele and hired McElwain as OC and promoted Smart to DC.

Why should he shut up. If there is a worse coach anywhere then Steele I'd like to know who.

Did Satan fire Applewhite or didn't Major just up and leave.

And Kirby didn't get the defensive coordinator title until Kevin Steele left.

Because he's an alter of one of the worst posters ever to log onto the internet and I always tell him to shut up.

Steele isn't the greatest DC ever, but he's solid. Tonight is not indicative of his ability. Clemson's up-tempo offense has made his defense struggle all year.

Major supposedly left to become the Texas RBs coach but I'm 100% certain that Saban basically told him to get lost. It makes no sense why he would take such a dramatic demotion. I've also heard some people say that it was "Mama (Texas) called him home" but that doesn't make much sense either because I remember all kinds of articles being written about Applewhite being a huge Alabama fan growing up and how he always wanted to go there and so forth. He was definitely canned.

Who knows. Saban's washed up. He should retire asap and let you take the reigns.

It's unclear whether or not Saban was contractually obligated to pay him based on the provisions that were in the addendum. Hitherto the negative ancillary considerations of the aforementioned contract participants, the story was that both parties were involved in ad hoc synergistic conversations intended to provide guidance and clear traction in the progress of the negotiations.

Irrespective and unregardless of the state of those discussions, it is widely accepted that Nick Saban is jittery, furtive, platitudinous, contrived, and has the personality of a pulsing, prolapsed, diseased animal fundament. Good thing there are a round table of Alabama fans with sporks in hand.

We also have a lot more talent now. Steele did a pretty good job with what he had.

He was the co-defensive coordinator but I thought it was in name only. I remember Saban tacking on some weird titles to Steele's position in 2008 like Associate Head Coach or HC of the defense which might have been a way to quietly demote him without embarrassing him.

I'm guessing you're in law school or political science. Worthless pursuits, imo.
