It’s the most WAOM thing ever for us to do this to one of the three competent individuals currently working in the athletic department.

I’ll hold my criticism until we know the basis of this.

Don’t care. Winning is fun. Leave him be.

Ole Miss softball head coach Mike Smith has been placed on administrative leave pending what has been described as a non-financial, external audit of the program.

It is not financial and not a harrassment investigation. I would also assume an audit does not mean an investigation of recruiting.

How serious can it be then to remove him from coaching duties. Hey let's remove someone that built something from absolute nothing, great idea

I could be completely wrong and this is warranted, however based on previous Ole Miss decisions, I doubt they are doing it the right way

I talked to someone who works for softball yesterday and apparently some of the softball players (I couldn't get specifics on how many in total) complained about Mike Smith being too tough on them and apparently some even threatened legal action against the University for it. It didn't sound like it had anything to do with sexual allegations or anything like that just him being way too tough on them in the eyes of some of the players.

Define "way too tough on them".

Yeah.

"Throw the ball harder. Get some hustle in you or everyone has to run laps."

"Coach is being mean to us. Better file a report."

That puts Keith in a really tough spot. He has to side with the players and listen to their complaints and do an investigation or risk there being some news story about how Ole Miss doesn’t care about players. But he also has to protect the coach because something like this might be truly BS and we don’t want to damage his reputation that he’s worked so hard to build.

There are allegations of mishandling player injuries as well as discrimination and/or slurring against lesbian players. I believe this was prompted by a video recorded by the players and sent to the AD. Mike’s program has been successful but he has had a ton of transfers that are allegedly the result of this behavior.

I don’t believe this is the first time Mike has had these allegations brought against him. I think he was suspended for a series last season.
