Yeah, its somewhat lame, but no less lame than that god damn bear, plus its at least somewhat relevant. No one gives a frick about the bear though. The landshark fin is probably going to live on for some time. I doubt we're going to be seeing bear claws anytime soon.

The ONLY issue I have with it is the fact I wouldn't be able to find any cool landshark pics for my avi like I have now with the bear.

The players looooove the landshark. They made it up, and it is still relevant. Not one has referred to a bear.

I definitely think we should work in somehow as an official Ole Miss monicker.

I mean, look at Auburn. Plainsmen, War Eagle Mascot, Tigers -- we could certainly move the Landsharks in there somewhere.

The landshark moniker is associated with the defense. I don't think it has a place representing all sports. I'm aware that Henderson throws it up from time to time, but I think having it as a primary figure would dilute its image too much. The black bear isn't going anywhere. The colonel will never die. He will always be the first mascot. The ones who can't come to grips with it, will just have to bite the bullet. The bear isn't going anywhere. DWI.

If the Shark was the mascot people still would have been upset.

If having the bear over colonel reb had any impact in this year's recruit class, I think I'll learn to deal with it. I actually kind of like it when people try to hate by calling us the black bears.

Might not be a bad idea for the school to try to trademark some kind of land shark though. It would sell.

First, the Colonel will always be my mascot.

Second, Since the Colonel can't officially be the schools and never will again ... I support the university in it's choice.

Third, There is nothing fricking wrong with the bear ... no it's not the Colonel, but it does have an interesting story behind it that makes it acceptable & the kids like it. Hell given what some of our choices could be I like it myself. But FWIW it's a fricking mascot who cares what the hell it is as long as we are winning IMO.

Fourth & Finallly, the landshark while cool and could possibly he used sports-wide at the university, I don't think this is the best course of action with this moniker. In thruth this actually symbolizes the Defense of our Football team and shouldn't be spread across to the other sports. This is the definition of our defense much like there were the blackshirts for Nebraksa's defense we have the landsharks. We should keep this to the defense and keep it special for Ole Miss.

I think the role the landshark has at this time is fine how it is. It's cool because it is only used when Ole Miss gets a big hit or makes a big stop.

The hand over the head signal used by the players is unique to Ole Miss and is cool in itself. If you use it for more things it will be washed out and boring. It's exciting because of how it's used.

Also, there is no need to spend money on it when we are trying to raise $150M to build a new basketball arena and upgrade our football stadium.
