Read up on them. The Chefs are out of New Orleans. I'd look over the menu and go, you'd quickly realize there isn't a fine dining seafood joint in the State that could compete with them.

We will just have to agree to disagree until I've tried it but it's just hard for me to believe somewhere that far north would be the best.

Anyone that is bored at work, go to [link=(www.liveduvalstreet)]www.liveduvalstreet.com[/link]. It's the main strip in Key West's live feed. There's a pirate sexually harassing people on the street and one girl's boyfriend did not appreciate it. Worth a look.

It's probably outstanding but best in the state that far north is really setting the bar high.

Yeah-it's hard to find any good seafood other than on the Coast. And I've tried. I'm only 60 minutes from the Coast and it is hit or miss here... usually miss. On the Coast, Trapani's, Mary Mahoney's, Vrazel's (when it was open)... are/were all good stand-by's.

The best outside of the Coast I've had was the redfish at the Mayflower in Jackson, but that was 15 years ago, so I can't vouch for it now.

I agree with all of that. Most of them have drinks in their hands too, those alcoholic bastards. The low in Key West all week is 70.

All very solid.

Half Shell Oyster House in Biloxi is currently my favorite.

Yeah I've wanted to make the move there for a few years but I liked my job in Charleston, S.C. then I liked my job here in Oxford, but it's too much to pass up financially and just how awesome life is down there. I just booked my lease a stones throw from Smathers Beach and I'm pretty psyched about that.

It and the one in Gulfport are decent. The one in Hattiesburg is not. Again-it's amazing that you can't get good seafood this close to the Coast unless you catch it and cook it yourself.

I haven't been to the one in Hattiesburg or Gulfport but they just built one in Mobile and it doesn't compare.

The one in Biloxi is soooo good though. Of course I've been probably eight times and only had two dishes because I found what I like.

Yeah I loved Charleston. Amazing food, gorgeous city, lots of stuff to do. Only problem is lots of Midwesterners.

Those are solid. Trapani's was my favorite when I lived down there. I also miss pre-Katrina Chappy's

They opened a Half Shell in Hattiesburg also now.

Too bad you had to deal with all those rules at the Citadel. That place is a prison from what I've heard.

ETA: I did work on Fishburne for the MiLB team in town so I was right next door to tCitadel. Gorgeous campus, but no smiles emitting from there.

Men, how are we today?

The best seafood restaurant on the entire Coast is, in my opinion, Trapani's in the Bay. Half Shell in Gulfport is splendid too. They have Lazy Magnolia's Ship Island Steamer on tap during the summer and it perfectly complements all sorts of seafood.

Vrazel's (RIP) was always solid and their glittery sign is now but a childhood memory of mine.

I'll stand by my assertion that the food culture from Mobile to New Orleans is the best in the nation, possibly even the world. You have the Creole and Cajun influences from Louisiana coupled with the Southern influences from Alabama and Mississippi.
