Chatagnier has been hitting better the last few weeks. McCants has been slumping so the move makes sense.
Side note. I wonder if we would look at Dougherty being a starter next season. Looks pretty damn good.

Well, we won but it was nothing to crow about. I don't like that we felt the need to use Broadway, but he only threw 16 pitches so there's that.Very much looking forward to tomorrow's game against Florida State with Nikhazy on the hump.

Agreed I thought we overall played well but not being confident in another bullpen arm in the 8th there isn’t a good sign.. this team has what it takes to make it to Omaha if we pitch like we did in Hoover. One step at a time.

Chatagnier?
He is a below average second baseman IMO. Not a great fielder with a weak arm (the reason he can’t play 3rd). Also, slow on turning 2.

I haven't checked the numbers, but Chatagnier seemed to be better at bat during the abbreviated Covid season. I think he's been admirable at 2nd base though this year for the most part

I haven't taken a deep dive into numbers either, but he hits too many fly balls and strikeout too much to justify having him at the top of the lineup IMO. Last night he went down looking with the opportunity to move runners over. Guys at the top of the lineup need to be able to handle the bat well enough to get that job done.

He was better last year for sure. He hit a massive slump this season after starting really hot. He’s seemingly coming back around though, which is great for our batting lineup.
