Bryan Jones and Willie Gay have both decommitted in the past 2 days (two of our top recruits). We have one of the worst defenses in the nation. Wommack needs to be fired. The NCAA hammer is looming. Freeze is great, but he's no Saban. Everyone is hurt. Kelly is having a less than stellar season. And, probably the worst of all, the excitement is gone, and a portion of the fan base has already given up on the season.

The game against Auburn this weekend could determine whether or not this program will be good for years to come. Every single odd is stacked against us, and we have been reeling for a few days now.

Our boys better give a frickin hurculean effort, or we could quickly slip back into a football oblivion. However, if we win, I think it's a sign that there are surely better things to come.

What say ye fellow Rebels?

All signs are pointing down. We really needed to win big this year.

Ole Miss just needs to get bowl eligible and get the NCAA stuff resolved so it can salvage the 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes.

Staff changes are coming most likely. Patterson should bring stability to the most important position on the field. Cam Akers should be the Prince that was Promised and our best RB since Deuce. OL should be improved with most starters back. The defense will likely suck again in 2017 but at least the secondary will have a a year of experience.

2018 has potential to be a big season as long as implosion doesn't happen between now and then.

I just am skeptical that all the progress made over the last 4 yrs (recruiting classes, NY6 Bowls, rankings, national prominence, etc) can come completely unglued after two road losses to pretty good Arky and LSU teams.

Is this a down year? Yes. Will there likey be staff changes? Yes. Will the 2017 be a lower-than-usual class? Yes. But that does not mean OM football is back in the shitter.

Some of you fricksticks remind me of the opening scene in Old School:
-Mitch: Excuse me sir, your seatbelt seems to be broken. What would you recommend I do?
-cab driver: I recommend you quit being such a feggot

Haha good quote.

The NCAA stuff scares me the most and is the true "unknown boogeyman" that could frick us.

Football-wise I think we'll be ok, but Freeze does have to find a way get some steam back in the program. Staff changes should help.

It's not just two road losses. It's an utter collapse defensively and 3 seasons of defensive recruiting misses. Things can easily come undone, especially if people don't react to the visible problems.

Fellas I've been the guy that always tried to see the positive. Welp. It's over.

"My" OL is still trash. "I've" got a 5 star LT, a 5 star guard, two 4star guards and a host of 3 star OL and we still sucked at running the ball. Every year is the year it should get better and every year we average right at 150 yards a game good for the bottom of the SEC. The truth is "I'm" not a SEC coach. Nothing about the OL has improved but the talent. The results are no different than they were with USM level Justin Bell.

Not one qb has improved since coming here. It's been 5 years and still not a single thousand yard rusher.

CB hasn't been good since the DB coach left for the Saints. LBs have sucked since Allen left. The DL is extremely overrated. And CJ Hampton is the biggest bust of the Freeze era.

No need to sugar coat this thing. Freeze needs to scrap this Arkansas State staff and get some serious recruiters.

I can't tell if the post is satirical beyond the Luke persona, but it feels good to agree with you.

I think someone on the red cup podcast essentially said we are an SEC team with sunbelt assistant coaches.

Bruhs, just won the Sugar Bowl last year and 3 losses this year have been Top 15 teams, including Bama. shite is gonna change this offseason and our crap coaches will get run.

Ditto'ing what's been said, but there's more to it than two road losses. I remember after the embarrassment that was the Memphis game last year, half our fans thought we'd lose out. I remained positive, had faith adjustments would be made defensively, and that we'd play better. We did...kinda, but there were still some glaring issues that were not addressed. Fast forward and now we've lost momentum and it appears our players have given up. All those issues that were hidden by the razzle dazzle offense last year have gotten worse (scheming and talent wise). No offense in the country can make up for our lack of defense. We haven't developed a single person like Prewitt on the defensive side of the ball, and our super talented guys like Nkem, Ward, etc never played to their potential under these coaches.

We laugh at how Prescott could have won championships at another school, but we've also let a lot of talent go to waste over the past few years. We had an NFL offensive lineman on the squad that we all said should ride the bench due to poor play. Luckily the scouts recognized his potential and gave him a shot. Luke has a lot of talent to play with right now, yet somehow we are last in rushing and Chad hasn't had time to go through a single progression the past few games without worrying about getting knocked the frick out. Right now everyone is focusing on Wommack, but remember Luke had as many, if not more topics calling for his head the past few years. Hell, our defense wouldn't look so bad if we could get it linemen to give our RB's even a little bit of a hole to work with. If we're going to do this thing, let's do it the right way and clean sweep it.

Our lack of SEC caliber coaches on both sides of the ball is appalling. We have some amazing recruiters, but they can't coach the talent they bring in and way over their head trying to get these kids to compete in the toughest division in football. We will not compete consistently with this staff. That's it, and it's the cold hard truth.

I'm drinking tonight, and I know I never even got to the point I was trying to make when I started this topic. I'm just ranting, and I'll probably continue to rant for the rest of the night until I run out of booze. I apologize in advance.

It's the same thing every year. This year was supposed to be good and everyone knows it. I'm almost done with this besides playing for pride. We can essentially lose 2 games and be done in this conference. Let's face it, Bama, LSU and even Auburn will win the west 95% of the time. The stars on recruits don't really matter, so don't get your hopes up.

And the "Swag for Heisman", give me a break. Never put crap like that on your car.

The point of bringing in Hugh Freeze was to change this fact. I am not saying that I have lost faith in Hugh, I still think that he is a great coach who has done very much for this program. With that being said, now is the time for Freeze to make the jump for the next level. We have risen from 2-10 to 10-3 over the span of 4 years, and falling back down to 6-6/7-5 is the opposite of what we want to see. I'm not saying that our win total should always be going up, as down years are bound to happen. But Hugh needs to keep us at a competitive level, and not fall behind the ever-changing SEC West landscape. That is what makes a great coach great.
