My biggest fear for this program is that Freeze doesn't fire anyone after the season. Regardless of whether or not we win a few games here and there, the fact remains that we have a coaching staff that worked great to bring Ole Miss to where it is now, the transition to middle of the pack and competing, now we need SEC caliber coordinators and position coaches.

I think someone on Nafoom said this, but if there was ever a time in the season to fire a DC it is now. most schools run into the problem that these coaches have relationships with committed recruits, we have the luxury that Wommack does not. It would be to our advantage to look now for someone who can recruit, and have them ready.

Exactly, it's not as though not firing Wommack is going to change how piss poor the defense has gotten over the past 2 years. His D sucks so bad good Defensive recruits are jumping ship. Announcing his "retirement" would likely stem that flow while enabling a search for a potential young DC that has worked well with a HUNH offense.

Ole Miss needs to grow some cajones and make the defensive hire equivalent of betting it all on black

Throw a ton of money at "Co-DC" known DC then give a recruiter the coveted "Co-DC" tag

Known Quantity DCs- Ruffin McNeil, Paul Rhodes, Leslie Frazier (Ravens secondary)

Recruiters CoDC- Tosh Lupoi, Lance Thompson etc

Our fanbase has begun to go crazy. We need Aaron Rodgers to show up and tell everyone to calm down.

Freeze is the 9th highest paid CFB coach. The melt is warranted.

Don't know if you can afford what it would take to bring me to a place the bars close at 12 and you can't buy cold beer

Lance Thompson is interesting. Great recruiter and if we pay him what Wommack makes, that's a 250k bump.

Man that jacks me up every time I go home. Even though I lived there 18 years, I still walk to the cold drinks and have a blank stare wondering where the heck the cold beer is. Lol

The smart thing is to Co-DC him with an up and coming guy that is fringe DC level like Tosh Lupoi

Put together the following defensive staff

DT- Tosh Lupoi (Co-DC)
DE/OLB- Lance Thompson (Co-DC)
ILB - Brian Jean-Mary (from Texas)
DB- Aazaar Abdul-Rahim (from Maryland)

Brian Jean-Mary may be part of a bad Texas defense performance, but their LBs play has been reasonable. More importantly, Jean-Mary has recruiting experience of Texas as well as Georgia/Florida from his time at Louisville/Georgia Tech as well

Aazaar Abdul-Rahim would be the best hire of the bunch. The guy was a key off field assistant at Alabama and now doing great as DB coach in Maryland under DJ Durkin. Before that he had a DB training academy for NFL prospects that had a good bit of success

FYI, I could be open to being your AD despite bars closing at 12 if they now allow cold beer

Doubt he would be willing to leave USC for co-DC. He already makes a lot for a co-DC.

You can always swap out Lance Thompson for a Paul Rhodes type guy.

Also as far as DB coaches go, Blake Gideon is going to be an elite DB coach in the future. Was a GA at Auburn and now DB coach at Wester Carolina
