What has happened to us here? Did we lose a lot? I didn't think so. I know our best pitcher is back, SS is back, LF and leadoff hitter back, etc. I also know we don't have much history, but that's, well, history. We ended last season on such a high note I suppose I was expecting what appears to be the same bunch to do something this year as well. We appear to have lost our way to say the least. Damn near dead last in the SEC, losers of like 9 of our last 11.

I'm not sure. The only two important players we lost were Strother and Lampton from last season. Didn't think two players could shake the team like this...

We got a win over Auburn today. That was nice. But yes, hitting is suspect. Never seen so many low averages.

We just can't hit. It's a shame because the pitching and fielding is plenty good enough to be among the best. I will say it looks like we are improving about like we did this same time last year.

Still don’t understand how we go from winning the conference tournament one year to not even qualifying to play in it the next.

We lost key assistants, and consequently both our pitching and offense went to complete shite. We were really really not that good

I'm not some big lifelong fastpitch softball fan, but still not what I was expecting from this team this year with all the players returning. I didn't know about the assistant coaches leaving until I started this thread. Doesn't say much for the head coach. Or maybe it says a lot. Not like he was trying to rebuild or anything.

I've played on and coached a lot of teams over the years.
We never won or lost because of a damn assistant coach!

Anybody catch the dreaded "in-game interview" with Smith Monday night? Jessica Mendoza asked him about a lineup change and he certainly took offense to it. I thought it was a fair question but he shot back with "sorry to disappoint everybody."
The next inning she asked the Arkansas coach a stupid question about discussing rankings with her team and that coach got a little sideways as well. It was not the best stretch for Mendoza.

We need to keep in mind that last year was one of our best seasons ever, and it’s looking more and more like it’s an anomaly and not the start of something new
