Great write-up on the state of Ole Miss Baseball right now.

Until this weekend I was leaning towards supporting bringing Bianco back for one more, but no more. We need change now or we will get lapped even more.

I think we should keep Blanco and give him a raise.

And Bianco has only been once.

Bianco has also been at OM for 18 years whereas Goodwin has only been at ECU for 4. But if you want to compare them like that, in 18 years, Bianco has won the SEC tournament twice...Goodwin has won the ACC tournament twice in four years.

You're not going to be able to compare accolades like that between a coach who's been at a school for almost 2 decades to someone who's only in his 5th year.

Not to mention that 5th year coach currently has his team as a projected national seed in the ncaa tournament where we are on the verge of not hosting a regional.

Ok, i am sold. I didn't realize he was our old batting coach. Didn't our offensive numbers decline as soon as he left?

I think Godwin would be an upgrade over what we currently have but it needs to be pointed out that the SEC is a lot tougher than the AAC. He’s done a really good job with them though and they deserve a National seed.

Yep, very noticeable too. I was hoping maybe something changed with the LSU comeback and we persevered. Alas tonight was typical tense tense tense team up by 2 bottom of the ninth 1 out and Carracci tanks and walks a guy on 4 pitches that according to DK ball 4 wasn't close and it got away form cooper! Then a hit, miller goes in and hit, hit and game over. Iirc Also on the final hit olenek ran up on the ball but didn't glove it and it stayed behind him so easy winning run from second base!
Another point I wanted to make is all the hoopla about 2nd or third winningest coach crap. Tanner had the amount Bianco has now overcome with like 5-6 years less time! The talent he has is coached down, reminds me of Jim Mora.
Rumors are Godwin is interested. Now or never in my mind.

Oh definitely. But just imagine what he could do with SEC caliber players.

I'm a Bama fan and fell in love with the Braves in the 80s, so maybe I'm a fan of hard luck baseball teams, but...

Since I started an Admin job at UM with regular interaction with the entirety of the Ath Dept and most Head Coaches, I can say without hesitation that Bianco, Davis, and Beasley (rifle) are some of the best people, leaders, and developmental coaches I have met. Great for student athletes. UM needs more like them.

Godwin is such a great coach. The second he left LSU we had a sharp decline in play. We’re trying the same experiment as ole miss not having a full time hitting coach, and it’s killing us

Still I’m sure you guys feel the same way; Mcdonnell is my first call if I’m LSU

I do not understand why Bianco insists on doing so much himself.

Our problem is the exact opposite. Mainieri doesn’t specialize in hitting or pitching, and now he’s resorted to a full time recruiting coordinator so that’s not exactly his expertise either.

I’m not suggesting he’s worthless, but I have a hard time thinking he really earns his million dollar contract in his day to day activities
