So what do we need to do to get a national seed? Anyone want to predict our finish?

Since there are 16 national seeds this year, the wheels will have to completely fall off to not get seeded. Like going 3-6 and losing both mid-weeks, and bombing in the tournament.

I think we’ll go 5-4, probably losing the SC series, but winning both mid-weeks, and still get seeded with a half-arse showing in the tournament, but outside the top 10.

That’s cool and all. I didn’t know that.

But 1-8 will still be known as “national seeds” while 9-16 will be known as the host.

There are still nat'l seeds. That is a good move to mean that supers, if seeding holds, will be no. 1 v. no. 16, no. 2 v. no. 15, etc. First 8 get home field advantage until Omaha and that is important, especially for us.

Huh?

I think 1-16 are all "national seeds."

Collins on omspirit posted an interesting stat. Only 1 SEC team has ever been a National seed without winning 20 total SEC games (including SEC tourney) it was USC and they won 19 and got benefit of the doubt since they won the title the year before or something.

So if we win 18 we would still have to perform in Hoover to be locks for national seed. That being said he said we won 20 SEC games in 09 but didn’t get a National seed.

Will SEC strength this year be enough to push us over the edge? I’m scared that midweek loss to MS state might be one we look back on kicking ourselves.

You can call them whatever you want. The important factor is who gets home field for the super and that has to be 1-8.

The grays are just awful. So the saying goes, "Look good, feel good, play good." They look like shite, so they feel like shite and play like shite. Burn them.

LATEST D1 REGIONAL PROJECTIONS

Find a way to finish 6-3 in SEC play and I feel like we're a National Seed lock as long as we win 1 game in Hoover.

I think Southern Miss will win their remaining series and make a run in the AAC Tourney and end up hosting again.

My favorite is the red and honestly I really like the grey, but if we suck in them, put 'em and leave 'em on the shelf.

My favorite is red. Navy and powder blue would be 2a and 2b in my book.

Then white, pinstripes, warmups, playing in shorts and t-shirt, then grey.

It’s time to retire these grey unis for good.

So their own poll has us as no. 4 but a 7 seed? With a tough 2? And Duke is going all the way out west to be a 2? That projection sucks. I guess it is based a lot on RPI and we don't have much left to improve that. But then again Orgeon State is behind us in RPI and ahead of us in the bracket so go figure.

That does seem dumb, but I'd think they make a distinction between where everyone stands today (us at no. 4) and what they project to happen the rest of the season (us at no. 7).

The polls are a reflection of a point in time where the projection is a season ending deal. Well that's the only way it makes sense to me anyways.
