Matt Luke will be our head coach in 2020.

We just played maybe the best D in the SEC and a very mediocre O. Let's pump the breaks a little. AU ran up and down the field on us and Nix, who is terrible, had a career day. If it wasn't for the missed fg's and Gus's dumb decision to not run the clock out at the half, the game is never in doubt. Everyone thinks RR is the only problem when Luke and lack of talent are the real culprits.

Mac is a good DC. He is not a good HC based on his record. Let's not aim so low and go get a winner. If they want to keep Mac on as DC, then great otherwise wish him the best. His D gave up a ton of yards last night. Auburn did not capitalize on a lot so let's not make that out to be a better performance than it was.

And probably 2021, 2022, 2023 ….

I've seen nothing that indicates Ole Miss will dump Luke anytime soon.

Yes by all means guys. Hire Mac, a man who has so far raised the Ole Miss defense to the lofty position of #91 (of 130 teams) in total defense, and the position of #123 (of 130 teams) in passing defense. What's the thinking here? Because the D has made some "big stops" and "bends but doesn't break?" Come on. Mac *might* be a great coach, but how does anyone look at rankings like that and conclude that he's somethings special? That he's distinguished himself to the point of being HC? One football expert here called him a "genius." OMG. There are only SEVEN teams in the entire country with a worse passing defense than Ole Miss! SEVEN (7). And don't fall back on the "too much time on the field" excuse. If you cannot watch how the secondary gets absolutely carved up regardless of possession time - by even mediocre passing teams - then you don't know crap about football and for godssake shouldn't be making coaching recommendations.

When and if there's a new head football coach at OM, I wouldn't think it's a guy currently on staff.

Don't think picking certain things to make the guy look bad is the right move. You completely left out the fact that the run defense last year was at the very bottom of all of college football. This year that has been the focus and they are 35th overall in rushing defense.

I'm not suggesting Mac should be the next coach, but don't give half of the argument. The guy has done one hell of a job. He came into this year and stated that run defense and stopping teams running game would be the focus. Its better to be good at one thing than to completely suck at everything like we did last year.
