Sumrall is smart enough to hire a good staff and let them run the show on offense.
In all of this, I wonder the most about our staff. I know you have to let a new head coach hire their own staff but I really like our staff and honestly, with as much as Lane has turned over the offense to CWJ, I would be fine retaining him as well. We just need the head guy. (I know this all will not happen)

They’re some of the highest paid assistants in CFB. If FL/LSU is really giving Kiffin 15mm+ over 10, it’s going to be tough to also match or beat what we give them. From the little that I know, they all seem to like it here and I’m sure they’re happy to stay and collect that paycheck we’re signing.

Y’all, the amount of staff we have right now from right under Lane that want to retire here is a bit surprising. Pete isn’t leaving unless they physically remove him like a tick.

I like him and I really feel Lane is gone. I think that interview today was all about trying to ease tensions for another week. I'd bet Lane talked to KC and they agreed it was best for the team to focus on Miss State and not think their coach might leave before that game. I also think I heard him say Knox has a football game the same day as the egg bowl. Talk about putting your son in a terrible situation if it's announced before about Lane leaving. I think Kiffin desperately wants to coach this team in the playoffs but it's just hard to see how that works. If Florida and/or lsu still haven't hired someone, it's obvious sexton has told them he's coming. Maybe Trinidad saying he thinks if Joe judge as a 2nd father was a sign that he thinks this team will unite behind Judge.
The more and more I think about it,the family flying out there was such a slap in the face. What does Layla need to see in Gainesville that she hasn't already seen? That interview just pissed me off even more because it was obvious Pat was told not to ask about those trips. Regardless of what happens, I do think it's clear Lane has been poorly advised on how to maintain the good PR he's gotten the last year. Or that whole special he did was not to talk about Oxford but to try and put his "growth and maturity" out there like he's submitting a resume to other employers.

See it for what it is. He has changed for his family, but still sees us as his temporary employer.

Lane is treating our fanbase like shite, and the more I think about it, the better I feel about us moving on.

Yeah I'm over the drama of all this. Want to keep him, but we need to force an answer one way or the other. If he's gone, let Joe Judge be the interim and go hire Sumrall. Keep most of the staff and hold onto as much of the roster as we can.

He’s given the appearance of change. This shows he’s not actually changed at all where it matters. He claimed to have learned from Auburn. Hell, he even did the right things after it happened, but he’s let things and people slide back in and influence him the exact same way.

This is exactly how I feel. And to be honest, I think a lot the support left for him to stay is just based on the fear that we won't be at the same level under a different coach. But he's not the only good coach. There are giants out there that haven't yet surfaced. He's underachieved more than he's overachieved here. If we give others the same tools we gave him, we very well may continue to be good. I just hope we don't swing too far toward "nice guy" coach like we did after Tuberville. I want a cocky a-hole coach. Just not one that's an a-hole to the people that support him.

Sumrall. We just need to be able to move before he accepts the Auburn job. He will 100% be a SEC coach next year. He would take our opening over Auburn.

This is my one first hand knowledge tidbit, he’s not going to accept their offer if there’s a chance ours opens.

It's mine as well. But at some point, Auburn will force the issue and I do think he'll accept it if he isn't 100% sure our job is opening. Which is why I think, partially, we are forcing the issue with Lane..

I believe this. Doesn't he have ties to Ole Miss already anyway?

Yeah he was our LB coach for a minute under Luke. Left for the DC job at Kentucky

Ben Garrett just posted a pretty bleak update on OMS. Said it’s looking like LSU is the favorite now and that Weiss, Joyner, Kevin Smith, and Billy Glasscock would most likely go with him and that Golding, Judge, Schoony, and B Brown would like to hang around if it’s an option for them. He said that it was all over the Manning Center today and that practice did not go well. He also reiterated that we’re in ongoing discussions with Sumrall’s party. Hopefully time would prove me wrong but I really really really would not like that hire.

He's tough to read and I attribute that to him being on the spectrum. The interview today felt contrived. Were you to be in a room with him and asked him straight to his face what his plans are, I don't think you'd get an answer. You might get an answer if you were Knox. Might.
Their circuitry is just wired different. Inconsideration is not unique; I've got a family member who is just like him.

That going list seems off by about 3 that I know of, Weiss being the main one.
Whatever though, I still think dipshit stays. His ego won’t let him walk and he is not coaching without ink.
The only thing to discuss with Sumrall would be the color he wants his office. They’re sitting on go.

Joyner surprises me, honestly. They seem to love it here. But, sometimes guys hitch their horse to a certain wagon and just ride along...
...until they are let go in an ugly fashion.
