I think he will and I ~think~ there are some contingency plans if Lane decides to walk. Again, as of 9:36 am, I have no real reason to believe he won’t be our coach next year.

If that is the case then I hope Carter sticks to his guns on it. I don’t think that’s unreasonable for us to have that in there.
I agree. We have to get to a point where we protect our side from this kind of circus. Hell, just do a high buyout for SEC teams and a lower one for somewhere else.

Would be perfectly fine with that. Couldn't care less if he leaves us for the NFL for example. And he isn't leaving the SEC if he stays in college football

Lane's current contract is through 12/31/2031.
What exactly is Keith having him sign? There are limitations to state contracts in Mississippi for length. We cannot sign him to a 10 year contract.
Is it more money for Lane or a larger buyout poison pill?
Lane signing a contract will not make Florida go away, without something substantial financially to make them go away.

He's 54-19 overall at Ole Miss and 31-17 in league play. At a certain point, however, you have to ask if the merry-go-round with "will he or won't he" is worth it.
It's absolutely worth it, but we are likewise absolutely entitled to his full, undivided loyalty.

There is a picture but I don't like it and will not share it because it has to do with Knox. I think that kind of shite is way out of bounds and I'm not going to participate in that.
Wow, one of those I have proof, but I am not sharing it

He has his 4 year contract with the state but most of his contract is through the UMAA foundation which, by being non-state, can go for as long as we want. Hell, I'd be fine with them agreeing to a shorter deal with a higher buyout for him to pay us. Maybe that would be the smart way to go.

Don't be a dick. I just don't want to share it because it involves a kid. I'm not going to do that. I think I am being principled here.

Correct, we know that.
What are the details. because a new contract mean nothing without a larger buyout? Paying him more to just pay him, has to come with some teeth.
So what are we trying to get him to sign? The most important piece of information to this whole puzzle seems to be unknown, yet people are claiming with authority is gone or staying.
The delay could simply be just negotiations. The further Ole Miss goes, the more leverage Lane has. Signing contracts mid-season has burned coaches and schools before. You cannot get emotional.

He's easily the best AD we've ever had and whatever happens he'll get us through it. He nailed the Kiffin hire. He nailed the Beard hire. We'll be fine with whatever happens
