Exactly. Imagine telling your current employer who has literally invested in you millions of dollars from various stakeholders that you will let them know your decision when it’s convenient for you. All the while, your employer knows you have been speaking with one of your top competitors and sent your family on their jet to their HQ. GTFO

On the legal question: what damages does he suffer if we suspend him with pay and he signs the deal on the table with LSU? Do you believe our bonuses are contingent on him coaching in those games? Does he get a bonus for each game reached?
Hell, pay him the bonuses too. Just don’t let him in the building.

You seem to be taking a known liar at his word that he hasn’t decided. He has. He’s just playing coy to get what he wants.

It very much is possible for someone to be our coach and not be acting in the best interest.

LSU will burn down BR
This is assuming he stays. And what happens to LSU/BR is irrelevant to Ole Miss/Oxford. We're assuming he hasn't burned his bridges and the segmented fanbase can re-solidify.

Your turn
Stringing us along for over a month. - Not in our best interest
Requiring a 2nd pay raise within a 2 month span for him to stay - Not in our best interest.
Having a Home playoff game in a rebuilding year and still can't decide if it's worth staying or not - Not in our best interest.
Pissing off the fanbase, players, coaches, and boosters - Not in our best interest.
Delaying his decision to the point that we lose out on the likely best available replacements. - Not our best interest.
I'm sure I could go on but those are just what easily came to mind. That not enough for you?

Having a Home playoff game
Maybe. His waffling may cost us that, thus costing Ole Miss and its boosters and supporters millions in lost revenue.

We can definitely chalk that one up to "Not in the best interest of Ole Miss", right?

We literally offered to make him the highest paid coach in college football. If he didn't accept that, there's nothing we could do to keep him.

There’s a problem with him actively recruiting for an in conference rival while coaching our team.

It hasn’t yet. It will when we tell Lane he can coach the playoffs. If he was staying, it would’ve been announced.
Posted on 11/29/25 at 6:29 pm to Fullmonty
We offered to make him the highest paid coach in football and offered a comprehensive NIL package. What more is there to put on the table?
