Well yeah, LSU is paying him $1mil consulting fee to help them find their next coach. Saban is going to say the LSU is the best job in the country at the moment

Had no idea about that.

Corvallis is up there with Oxford as one of the best college towns I’ve ever been to. 18 year old tb2010 would have been a duck…32 tb2010 would have 100% gone to Oregon State. Really unique majors too.

This is the first I’ve heard of this million dollar payment. The Saban’s are close to a lot of LSU donors from their time at LSU and Saban is close with Verge. He’s also spoken fondly of his time at LSU.

Maybe that’s true but I’m doubtful. It’s not that outlandish to suggest he’d help LSU.

Saban was not good for college football. He resurrected both LSU and Bama.

That $1 million sure made Saban change his tune. Just a week or two ago Saban said he wasn't sure that LSU would be a better job.

Yep. I've seen this across the board. LSU's rookie AD paid for Saban's help.

He’s the reason we kept bozo the first time. Wasn’t some PowerPoint. It was Nick telling him to stay here and build something. In retrospect, could’ve just been to frick over Auburn.

I'm sure they paid for the PR as well, and a kicker if they got their guy hired.

Chris Low is Lane & Sexton's PR outlet, and it probably killed him to have to report Ole Miss was matching what LSU is offering. If Lane leaves, he'll get destroyed by the national media - deservingly so.

It's just strange that all the numbers got leaked. Games are being played but by whom, I do not know. KC thinks we are in play or else our numbers wouldn't have gone out yesterday

My favorite part of this saga is lane saying that he never makes a decision based on money, but somehow Ole Miss is having to match if not exceed higher contract offers.

All that does is show him to be a compulsive liar. If that were really true, he would tell us to just put that extra money into the NIL.

But it isn’t anywhere near the gap that LSU fans think.

You know how you can tell the gap isn't that big? One team has been on the verge of the CFP the last two years, and it isn't LSU.

I said this a couple of weeks ago. If it's really not about money, then he's would put it all toward NIL

That was a bit more scathing than I expected. Calling him out and saying “brother, you’re allowed to be happy” is not something I would’ve expected from an ESPN broadcast

I like that Pat is allowed to be a little on the unfiltered side. I think we’re all pretty tired of these on air personalities being overly politically correct and not wanting to offend people. That very much was a direct call out to Kiffin and not just a general Water cooler chat

I told everyone on this board yesterday that absolutely nothing substantive was going to happen at that meeting with Keith yesterday.

Also at 12:30 yesterday I told you exactly what was going on. I repeated it here for your reading enjoyment.

“IMO at this point the "money" is not a material deciding factor under any of the potential options. (All schools are in same range)

The main concern for Kiffin is now his reputation and, therefore, it is likely that Kiffin will do everything he can to maintain this circus through the Egg Bowl and beyond depending on outcome of that game.

If we lose Egg Bowl and do not make the play offs (which is a possibility) then it is not such a big deal to leave Ole Miss before an irrelevant bowl game (not perfect but certainly minimizes the damage to his reputation).

If we win the Egg Bowl (then we r in playoffs for sure) or if he makes the playoffs even with the Egg Bowl loss, then lane would likely still need the circus to continue until after the playoff run is concluded (again leaving at that point certainly minimizes the damage to his reputation, if any).

I understand that nobody likes this circus because we all just want him to say he loves us.

However, Keith knows it is in our best interest even if it is just to continue using him like a midnight booty call, with or without true love. Just win baby = Kiffin (if he stays he will need to continue to work hard here for OM or for his next job). Either way we win.
Also but just as importantly the longer this drags out the better the chances LSU/Florida moves on b/c of their sanctimoniously shitty fan bases are too impatient to wait.

This is why Kiffin will continue to act like there is nothing to see here or that it’s business as usual (encouraging Kiffin tweets/ I will not discuss anything until season is over) until all this plays out one way or the other. So buckle up buttercup.

I know many will disagree, but I think Keith should take this gamble and issue no ultimatums of loyalty given the unique circumstances of this situation.”

….

Yesterday Keith played those cards perfectly.

As I also said, Keith knows Kiffin better than anyone else and would never do anything to intentionally hurt our program.

The bottom line is that nothing has been decided yet and winning will fix this.

The sad part is that we, by and large, appear to be a bunch of faithless butt hurt whiny bitches incapable of helping KC help us.
