Anyone know the story of why we got synthetic turf at VHS in 2003?

And why we went back? Old topic for sure but that was pretty dumb. I guess it's better for running backs?

I heard a story about the soil was not correct and harbored some sort of fungus not allowing turf to grow effectively.

The “official reason” was that the SEZ construction somehow completely killed the grass on that side of the field so they had to put in FieldTurd(I meant to spell it as FieldTurf but I get fingered it. But that also works)
It was solid for quite a few years but we waited way past its expiration date to replace it. That being said it played absolute hell on our shower drains and washing machines with the black pellets getting stuck everywhere.

I remember a combination of the two accounts above: SEZ created too much shade where grass couldn't grow and fungus could. It was obviously a bullshite story from our terrible AD Pete Boone. Screw that guy.

I'm so glad that shite is gone. It was Pete Boone saving money, plain and simple. They tried to sell it as the team played on it somewhere and loved it.
