I understand Indiana players since they were in the playoffs, but how are players from other teams still entering the portal when the window to enter ended on Jan 16th?
Posted on 1/20/26 at 2:12 pm to Jimmy Chestnut
They could have entered this past weekend and then the school has 2 business days to announce it or something like that

Because all they had to do is submit the paperwork to whatever university they are currently attending. It is up to that said university to process the application and submit to the NCAA within 48 hours (2 business days).
If there were players that submitted their paperwork to their school at 10pm on the 16th, tomorrow is the last day you will see players "entering" the portal.
With that being said Indiana and Miami have a portal window of the 20th-24th of January. With 2 business days of seeing them become available after the 24th.

Players can still transfer, they just can’t be recruited.
They would just withdraw from their current school and enter the new.

Will this one be worth a shite? Time will tell.

Any truth to the rumor we're renegotiating with princewill to stay? I understand wanting to keep your good players, but do wonder if we're overpaying because it's lane. Princewill did a great job at the end of the year rushing the qb but he was terrible against the run and I don't see how he should be paid as a top defensive end. If the choice is receive $600K or pay him $1.5-$2M, I think they just need to let lane get his win here

Everything I’ve seen says LSU is paying the $600k for Princewell and he’s gone

So we're getting $550K for princewill, any idea what we got for Harper? I'm assuming around $200K? That extra $750k, no reason not to close strong in the portal.

Just a tad over $400K from Harper.
Plus LSU owes $3M for Kiffin and $1M for CWJr

LSU had a handful of donors that are billionaires but I have no idea truly where this constant funnel of cash is coming. All of the inside guys say we are set for the next few years and it’ll keep coming if we win.
To relate to Ole Miss a huge credit for the fundraising success is Austin Thomas, so I expect ole miss to have some record fundraising. Thomas raised 18 million in a month last December and got us the portal class that saved us from 3-9
…frankly would have been much better had it not been for Brian Kelly.

With NIL being so new some of these high net worth guys are having fun spending to try and get a title. The novelty will wear off though in a few years when they don’t see one produced. I think spending in cfb will peak here in the next 3-4 years and we will have some drop off after that.

I'm also curious to see if the new Clearinghouse just rubber stamps all the NIL deals, or if it becomes harder to get NIL approved.

Had this conversation with someone the other day. Southern Cal is a perfect example. You're paying top dollar for Lincoln Riley and now your Alujmni base has stepped up and forked over some serious cash to bring in the #1 composite class. Their roster still has a lot of holes in it and I think they miss the Playoff again next season. If you go 8-4 next season how do you sell that to you donors that they need to remain All in and keep cutting checks ? I think they go 9-3 at best season and that's not good enough.

Seems like most teams especially lsu are operating like the clearinghouse doesn’t exist. All you have to do is divide your total NIL amount by $600 and create that many shell companies to disburse the money.

I’m exhausted and it’s literally none of my money
But you’re not wrong. As long as these schools have an unhinged contingent at the top we’re going to keep kicking the can down the road.
