I truly don’t know how to feel about him. I think he’s an a-hole, but that isn’t unique to college coaches. What is unique is how starved for validation he is while also acting like he’s above it. I think there’d be a whole lot less heartburn around all of this if he just admitted he took the LSU job for prestige and status and not about championships.

ETA: I just find his want to add narrative to it repulsive to my own sensibilities. Just say what you mean, for once.

Exactly. He will always be looking for the "next big thing" to feed his ego. Let's not forget he was ready to bolt for Auburn until his kids talked him out of it. Oxford wasn't going to be his "destination" - it was a means for him to rebuild his public image (same with the ESPN doc) in order for him to get something "bigger and better".

I hope he hits rock bottom in Red Stick. He berated the fanbase constantly, lied to our administration on his intentions (his mind was absolutely made up he was leaving), and tried to burn Ole Miss to the ground on his way out the door.

Well said. That is why I am perfectly fine with our administration and others taking advantage of any and every opportunity available to make his life more difficult (and every coonass enabler).

I know exactly how I feel about him. frick him. The fact that he wanted to hog TV time during the Sugar Bowl to promote himself should tell you all you need to know.

To be honest, I don't know how much I still believe this. I think it's certainly possible, but I think it's equally possible that someone told him going to Auburn means never being coach at Alabama. The whole "it was all family" may have been more PR spin at the end of the day.

Don't take that to mean I think Alabama would have hired him either way, but I'm not sure that Lane believed he couldn't get back in the door someday. If someone like Saban or Sexton told him going to Auburn all but guaranteed he'd never have a shot at the Alabama job, I can see him deciding last minute not to take it.

This season's drama and his exit really made me wonder about all of that where before I was pretty happy to believe it was the whole family and Oxford thing.

Alright, so remaining needs (subject to who we still lose via the portal)

1 QB (Backup - Deuce)
1 RB (change of pace for Lacy)
At least 1 starting WR (subject to any others leaving)

Think we take 1 TE if it's the right one. Otherwise we may just roll with Hasz and Odom

We need some depth O-Line pieces, but the starters are in place - assuming once again that none leave (transfer or NFL).

Probably want another Edge. Maybe a rotational DT.

Need a coverage LB.

Need a starting Safety. Probably depth across the secondary too.

I could see with the way stuff going down TB team.. If that jobs comes open next season in NFL.. You can make a bet he will put his name in for that job.. Cause he would love to Coach at the same NFL team that his dad coach at.. After hearing from most bama fans.. I don't see him going their even opens again unless Bama gets a new AD..

Dante Dowdell RB at Kentucky from Picayune MS. is in the portal. Remember him out of HS went to Oregon >Nebraska >Kentucky.

With Lacy and SMK we need some other depth.
Would love for Frank to pull Caden Durham RB

I don't know that the nfl will give him another shot anytime soon. The circus he created with all this, nfl teams don't like that.

Getting Leavitt was nice for them but you know it’s really chapping Lane’s arse that none of the players he wanted to bring with him are going to be following him

You know when he interview for LSU he told them they was coming.. Reason him and LSU wanted him to stay coaching playoffs. So it would end vs UGA and why he was hyping up portal open date. Him maybe getting only one of our players and not all them like he said he would.
