First half we shot 5 airballs. Absolutely no effort from our guards all game.
2nd half we came out flat and played shitty on both ends of the floor. Lots of sloppy shots. Olenichek is a bust. TD has his worst game of the year. Burnett took bad shots. No one came to play.
ETA: our NIT coach continues to under-motivate the “Most talented” team we’ve ever had

I have a hard time believing he'd leave his current situation for OM. He'd be crazy to do that. This team needs a fire lit under its arse some how. They just looked like they didn't want it out there in the second half.

Dom is a total bust that’s this teams problem. Whatever happens this year I don’t think firing AK is a great solution just yet. All of the young talented guards would transfer out. We would truly be starting from scratch and who knows how the program would be perceived by potential coaches after that? Much better programs than us have sub .500 seasons sometimes. Rollover 1 year of the contract so he can recruit and give him another offseason to find a solution. A solid core would return next year and after that we’d be better positioned to replace him if it’s another bust.

We played well when we set up our offense and used some play clock. When we try to go fast we make mistakes. I noticed that when I shot goes up we retreat rather than crash the glass. Furm got a few Oreb just going in to the paint after shots. I remember being taught to follow your shot. Is that not the case at this level due to speed or fast breaks?

^^^ I don't really know, but there's no question certain fundamentals emphasized back in the day no longer are. I sometimes wonder if they were, that team would be unique and could win more. Just a thought.

So far about the only redeeming quality about our basketball team is that we've played a good schedule. That Illinois State team beat an 8-2 South Carolina in South Carolina already this season. For what it's worth.

Season is over with before even getting to SEC play. Over with meaning no chance at postseason ball. This Illinois State team had 6 losses coming into today. We just aren't a good team. Hell we aren't even decent right now.

We have played a good schedule, but there has to come a time where we need to overcome this lack of effort and produce some good results.
