Can someone explain to me the point of "sign and place"?
What advantage does it give us to sign guys we know won't qualify? Do we get extra communication privileges or something with them while they're in JC?

It leaves you in a good position with the recruit if they pan out in JUCO, and it's really healthy for relationships with JUCO programs.

Seems like most AU people are conceding CeCe to Ole Miss. Looks like the grand "package deal" isn't going to be a thing
It used to be a way of signing a kid, helping place him in a friendly JUCO then telling him he had a spot if he did his part to get qualify/develop. Showed the kid loyalty, trust and gave him a plan to make it into a SEC school. I believe you also get more access until he goes to JUCO but not positive
In today's world with the signing restrictions, it is almost pointless as it handicaps your ability to sign other kids due to the 25 man limit per signign period (+/- EEs each year)

There are different regulations on the communication with JUCO as opposed to high school. Not that one is better than the other, but it is different.
Also, doesn't that allow us to count the scholly in a different way? As in count it to this one, and maybe to the class they come in with from JUCO as well?

Also, seems like ya'll already understand this but all the Auburn beat writers from Rivals have predicted CeCe to sign elsewhere, most likely with Ole Miss.
Figured ya'll would like some positive news that the "Package Deal" seems to not be a thing at AU

I don't really buy into package deals anymore. Kids say that stuff but in my limited experience it rarely ever happens.

Scholarship attrition averages about 8-11 per year. Most teams can easily up that to 12-15 if necessary. Most teams try to stay on the low end because it looks bad but doesn't mean they won't if they were to immediately upgrade.

This is where it gets tricky. Those sign and place kids take up early enrollee spots that could otherwise count back. This restricts your ability to sign a full close and balance out your roster's scholarship numbers.
Teams like Florida who look to sign less than 15 ( ) can take these chances because they liikely aren't have 10+ kids counting back next year but other teams who sign 25+ most years can't

Depends on the situation. I usually look at "package deals" as a "Selling us playing together is a huge +" rather than "We are FOR SURE going to the same school."
I'm interested to see what Jeff Holland says this week if anything. Auburn still feels confident about him and he is planning to UOV to AU. If he brings CeCe along or if they continue this package deal talk it could get interesting.

Chase says he knows for sure of one other impending commit. Neal and Jeffrey were confused.

Just thought it was reassuring about Armani.

I never watched Van Jefferson's film prior to this morning. His fundamentals are off the chart (guess when your Dad is an NFL WR coach it helps). He may crack the line up as a slot right off the bat (which he played a ton of in HS & will be a match up problem even at the SEC level).
